About Peter Mackie (Lampstand)

I have been writing and recording songs as part of my personal worship for a number of years and have been challenged to get out of my comfort zone and share a few. My prayer as you listen is that you will be encouraged to use the gifts God has given you for his Kingdom.

Peter Mackie (Lampstand) has no Merchandise yet.

Hello Saints,

The song ‘Stand’ was written after studying Ephesians 6 verses 10-17and in particular, verses 11&14 where the word, ‘Stand’, is used specifically by Paul as to how we are to stop the efforts of evil taking hold in our world. We are to ‘Stand’ and be adorned with the full armour of God that our belief and faith in Jesus provides us with.

Peoples around the world are facing so many difficulties and problems today that they are looking for answers anywhere, many of which, I believe, will only lead to further difficulties, confusion, and strife.

My prayer as you listen to this song and reflect on the words is that you will be encouraged to re-read this wonderful passage of scripture and ask the Holy Spirit to bless you afresh and encourage you to ‘Stand’ through your own situation and help others through theirs.

Stay safe

Cheers Peter

The character of Peter the fisherman, disciple and apostle has always fascinated me, and one story has always tickled my sense of curiosity and humour.

Impetuous he may have been, but at least he acted on the incredible scene of seeing Jesus walking on the water whilst the rest of them only looked on and stayed safely in the boat.

The song ‘You’ve got to’ is a reflection on how we can react when we experience Jesus do something in our lives and not be content to stay comfortably in whatever boat we may be in.

In his book first published in 2001, ’If you want to walk on water you’ve got to get out of the boat’, John Ortberg encourages the reader to reflect on the incredible potential that awaits every follower of Jesus outside of their comfort zone. This song is my contribution to encouraging us to get out of whatever safe, comfortable boat we are journeying in as we follow Jesus.

Hello Saints,

Pentecost is an amazing time for Christians as we remember and celebrate the gift of the coming of the Holy Spirit into the lives of Jesus disciples. A gift that is still given to all those who believe and trust in Him today.

I was reflecting on the story of Moses and the burning bush and how the bush was not consumed by the flame and realised that the same thing happens to us when the Holy Spirit enters our lives. We are surrounded by the presence of God but we are not consumed or destroyed, rather we are empowered and blessed.

When recording 'On fire' I ended up with 2 versions of the vocal melody line and couldn't decide which one I preferred so I decided to leave them both in.

I hope you have a great Pentecost and always remain 'on fire' for Jesus. Stay safe.

Hello Saints,

Easter is almost upon us and we will celebrate the resurrection of Jesus from the dead and his gift of an amazing eternal life for those who believe in him.

I was reflecting on the number of times in scripture where 'hills' are mentioned and the importance they play in the Bible stories in both the Old and New Testaments.

What particularly caught my eye was Jesus affirmation on a hill, his death on a hill, his ascension on a hill and the fact that the Bible tells us he will return on a hill.

These thoughts all lead to me writing the song, 'On a hill', a number of years ago. It has been through several arrangements over the years until I eventually settled on the simple stripped back version I have uploaded.

I hope like it and have a great Easter.

Stay safe. God bless.

Cheers Peter

Hello Saints,

I have been asked a number of times over the last few months when I will be able to do 'live' events.

The answer to this is that we just don't know. Even with the vaccine rollout in full motion here in the UK, it will be many months before we will know for sure when we will be able to travel safely to other parts of the world.

So, to get round this problem we decided to do a one off event on the 24th February in my church in Middleton Cheney and record it. I am pleased to say that the 42 minute video - 'Easter Laid Bare' (ELB) which is a reflection on the wonderful Easter story is now available on Youtube. Please follow the link.

ELB is a reflection of the Easter story through 6 songs, one of which 'The Marks' has already been uploaded to N1M.

Stay safe

Cheers Peter
