New Sight - Bartimaeus story

Hello Saints,

I wrote the guitar music for this song 'New Sight' and was looking for some inspiration as to what the song should be about when we recorded a rough demo guitar track in the studio. Because it was just a demo, we had a window open for some fresh air and the noise of the passing traffic on the road outside was recorded at the same time. This proved to be the inspiration I needed.

I read the story of Bartimaeus and pictured him as a busker sitting on the side of a busy road telling his story in the hope that someone, anyone would stop and listen to his tail of desperation, faith and healing that happens when one is brave enough to call out to Jesus, even when the rest of the world is telling you to be quiet and keep quiet. (Mark chapter 10:46-52)

It's a beautiful story of Jesus compassion but it's also a story for all believers to remember that sometimes when others are crying out we may be in danger of hindering rather than helping, just as the crowd were when they told Bartimaeus to be quiet.

My prayer is that we will never get in the way of others reaching and calling out to Jesus especially when they are crying out to him.

Please do check out the lyrics.

Stay safe. God bless.

Cheers Peter

Freedom (Essubi – ‘Hope’ in the Luganda language) Pentecost 2022

Hello Saints,

One of my earlier songs, ‘Your way not our way’, was written in and inspired by the countries of Uganda and Madagascar. The musical rhythms of these 2 nations add something very special to their music and I have used their influence in the song – ‘Freedom (Essubi – Hope)’ which I hope you will like.

Pentecost is a very special time in the Christian calendar as we celebrate the giving of the Holy Spirit to the early disciples and give thanks that Bible believing Christians have the Holy Spirit with them today. The song reflects an individual giving thanks for God being in their life and asking Him to send the Holy Spirit and his healing Love to other individuals and nations so that they too may enjoy the ‘Freedom and Hope’ that comes from knowing and remembering what Jesus has done for us all.

I hope and pray that you will have a spirit filled and blessed Pentecost and continually experience the Holy Spirit and the Healing Love of God in your life every day.

Cheers Peter

You set me free (Easter 2022)

Hello Saints,

I trust with everything going on in our sorry world that our faith continues to be strong, and the promise of eternal life keeps us focused on serving Jesus.

I was reflecting on what we can really offer Jesus and as a result wrote the song ‘You set me free (rescued me)’.

For me, this is very appropriate as an Easter prayer of praise and thanksgiving.

Praying you have a blessed Easter.

Cheers Peter

Victory - February 2022 (for Lent)

Hello Saints,

I trust you are well.

I have been fortunate enough to visit the Holy Land on 2 occasions. Both times were pilgrimages, the difference between them being, that the first time I took a camera and all the other paraphernalia that goes with it, whilst the second time I only took my Bible and I can tell you it made a huge difference not being distracted as a tourist.

The itinerary was not quite the same on both trips but we did visit many of the same places and one of the places we visited in Jerusalem was the room of the last supper. What I took away from the visits, was not the place itself but fact that something amazing happened in that venue. Namely, Jesus telling his disciples again what was going to happen to him, that what was going to happen had been foretold and the initiation of the wonder gift and celebration that we now call Communion, the Eucharist.

As we come to Lent as a time set aside to reflect on Jesus journey to the cross, I hope you, like me, will take courage from the fact that Jesus gave his disciples and us a wonder gift and a beautiful way to remember his sacrifice and ultimate victory over the fear of death and the promise of eternal life.

Stay safe.

Cheers Peter

GRACE - December 2021

Hello Saints,

I believe many of us will be familiar with, or heard of, the anacronym, GRACE, 'Gods Riches At Christ's Expense', which is very good and a clever way of remembering the sacrifice Jesus made for us and the reward we receive.

Sometime ago, I was reflecting on the meaning of the word of Grace and the fact that Jesus gave up everything for us. Firstly to be born a man in our human likeness that we celebrate at Christmas, and then dying for our sins and rising from the dead at the time of the Jewish Passover celebration that we call Easter. I think it was the revelation that he gave up everything and that his love is so singular and focus towards us that I then had the idea of writing a song that reflected what the word Grace means to me.

In this song, GRACE. The 'G' is for Giving the 'R' is for Reaching, the 'A' is for his singular Love, 'A' Love, not just any love. The 'C' is for Cost and the 'E' is for Eternal because Jesus did what he did with an eternal purpose in mind. The song also reminds me that Jesus GRACE is daily and continuous not just for every now and again.

I hope you and your families all have a very blessed Christmas and you will continue to experience Jesus 'GRACE' everyday.

Cheers Peter
