Brian joined the band in 2022 on lead and rhythm guitar when Paul McKinney stepped down from a full-time position as guitarist. Brian jumped in with great enthusiasm and took it upon himself to learn the entire Invaders catalog! He comes from long background as a rock bassist and is enjoying the new challenge of the new ska style of playing on guitar!

Dean Schwaller - Rhythm Guitar, Backing Vocals
Dean co-founded the band with Max back in 1987 and co-wrote many of the early songs. He stepped out in 1993 to concentrate on family but made guest appearances throughout the years. Max and the band are excited that Dean is back in the band full-time for 2024 and beyond!

Our trombonist, Adam has taken a new job in Indiana and has left the band. We are seeking a replacement. Our long time guitarist, Fish has also announced he is leaving the band to explore new projects. We welcome his replacement, Brian Borge to the line-up! We be holding off live shows until he is up to speed with our large set lists of songs. Paul is still solid as our lead guitarist but this means we will likely not be recording anytime soon. We hope you keep enjoying our music and we thank you for your support!

Our CD release show is this Saturday at Club Garibaldis here in Milwaukee. We wish you all could be brought here to check it out as it is going to be stellar. But we realize many of you are far away. Our Summer schedule is shaping up nicely and we are even recording another song that will be released on a 7" vinyl single for "Jump Up Records" in Chicago! Longest running Ska band in Wisconsin, who call Milwaukee home. Max and the Invaders have been skanking since 1991 and have released much music over that time playing what they call "Brewtown Ska!"
30 years later, they still offer original smart, catchy music and high energy shows!
The latest CD "Runnin' On Fumes" from the band features 13 songs and is produced by "Toasters" front man Rob "Bucket" Hingley. True to the bands "Two-Tone" roots it also encompasses many styles even including some calypso! The project also boasts of many guest musicians, of note, Rudie Hoskins from AKA RUDIE out of Nashville Tennessee who guest vocals, plays keyboards and produced the song on the album, "Elizabeth."

Since 1991 (as just "the Invaders") this seven-piece band "Max & the Invaders" have been writing original music and performing for over 30 years and still going strong! They are Wisconsin’s longest running Ska genre legends and 4-time WAMI award winners! They have released six full-length albums, a vinyl EP and had their songs included on over 24 album compilations! During the 3rd wave Ska flurry of the 1990's, the band toured extensively and gained recognition in the states and world-wide.
The current line-up includes original co-founding member Dean Schwaller back in the line-up and members who have come from many notable bands in the Milwaukee area from 3rd wave Ska bands including "International Jet Set", “Highball Holiday”, “707” and “The Fallout,” making this band a local Super Band!
Their original music is influenced primarily by early 80's British 2-Tone Ska, and many bands since like Oingo Boingo, UB40, the Police and Fishbone. Traditional 60's Jamaican legends like Desmond Dekker, Laurel Aitken and Bob Marley are also mentors to this group.
With a fun mix of Ska, Reggae, Calypso, rock and unexpected covers thrown into the set this band brings high energy Ska and Reggae groove fun for all ages to festivals, clubs and college campuses wherever they go!
