Daddy What Are Shadows Made Of?

Stunning in it's relation of the message of a journey taken, a journey fore-born and foreordained. Then also, a journey remembered and then forgotten. Thank goodness for composers like these who interpret our dreams and fantasies. This would make an amazing sound track for the right film. The harp and bells are especially beautiful, depicting a foretaste of the flowing rivers of life we will encounter on the other side in a new reality of heavenly places. An instrumental of Ascension to Higher Realms of Being and Progressive Enlightenment. Beautiful vocals that sound like angelic hosts singing in the new age of a new church and human race to come. Well, wherever that came from it was worth saying! Thank you for the privilege of hearing this beautiful work of art and light conceived in the shadowy recesses of the Kingdom of Truth.

An absence of light

I probably would have classified this song as an instrumental and or progressive sound, even new age would fit better. If this came out of the classical period it would have been very late 18th to early 19th century. There are just too many beautiful modern era sounds to date this piece like that. All that said this piece is full of polyphonic melodies that create a wonderful landscape full of ear candy and treats for the listener. To really experience this piece in its full wonder requires many listening to capture the full richness it embodies great wonderful piece that needs little if any work at all. Outstanding job.

The art of the simplicity

he Antique Harmonius has the art of simplicity. At a time when so-called classical music is characterized by its complexity, harmony, melody and rhythm, the three constituent elements of music, this exceptional group surprises us with its fluidity and the treatment of musical material. With a very simple initial musical melody which presents several times throughout the piece, it enriches with different elements: changing the orchestration, adding choirs, overlapping voices, all the elements that a good composer of this genre can use for Enrich both the initial melody and the other parts. The art of the simple requires great knowledge and this piece gets it in full form.

Epic Soundscape

A multi-colored soundscape from The Antique Harmoniums. A simple melody where you can hear the title question being asked by the double-reed instrument. Lots of synthesized instrument layers including strings, vibraphone, glockenspiel, and French horn among others. A drawn-out middle section with harp leads the listener back to the question being asked then a well thought-out coda.

Really Nice

I really enjoyed the mellow and easy flow of this song. "Daddy What Are Shadows Made Of?" Is a great piece to listen to when you're in the mood to relax and indulge the senses. I loved how throughout the song my mind was able to take a break from thinking and I really liked the mix of different sounds and how well they combined. Well done!

Imagination and wonderment inside a child's mind...

"Daddy What Are Shadows Made Of..." A classic question inside a child's mind. This musical score was wonderful as I listened intently to the soothing melodic chord changes. The stringed instruments beckoned and drew me into a bit of my own day dreaming. The quality of the recording is was excellent and the mix perfect. Right away I noticed the orchestral arraignment of strings were powerful but in a subtle way. I easily followed along in my mind as the score moved in gradual but building changes. This score could easily be a movie sound tract it delivers a huge amount of emotional impact on the listener. Which I always enjoy and is one of the reasons I love music and am so effected by it. "Daddy What Are Shadows Made Of..." was soothing but mysterious, uplifting but solemn, joyful and a ting sad... as if the images of children could still be seen running through the garden. I enjoyed this song very much, the music enveloped me completely, triggering emotions and carrying me away... In the end setting me down gently perhaps in a garden... in a quiet place, a very lovely place... To The Antique Harmoniums... I say, well done, I tip my hat to you all. Listeners will love the soft melodic score and enjoy the writing skills and performance of this lovely piece of music!

Awesome Orchestration

Hands down a Masterpiece! Reminded me of Rogers & Hamerstine All the different tapestries and emotions A true balance of Artful sounds. I couldn't critique this work in anyway except to say thanks for the journey. I would like to hear you do a piece using all stringed instruments. If you could bring that aspect to life it would be interesting. Leper's Review

It sound great! I really like the sound, its very reminiscent of a video game I played back in the 90's called Final Fantasy 7, very peaceful. I think the violins sound really electronic, and trust me when I say that I have the same problem with these synth instruments. I have not found a good set of violin sounds to use yet but ill let you know when I do for both our sake lol. Keep up the good work, like I said it sounds great.

A nice piece of orchestration

The theme is well developed and is moved nicely among the instruments of the orchestra so that there is always some kind of variation that maintains interest. The use of vocal “ahs” is very effective and phrasing is good throughout the piece. The theme the oboe introduces just after the introduction is particularly beautiful and I like the way it returns with an extended answering phase later on. The handover of this theme (the extended answering phase) to the strings just before the first vocal “ha” is also very nice. All the oboe sequences are beautiful and the occasional use of other orchestral instruments (tone colours) are well thought out. However I find that the string part is a bit static and I believe this has to do with the excessive use of e block chords in the string compliment. The harmonies used are fine but the block chords make the string part a little bit monotonous. Interest can be added by breaking up some of the (string background) chords in various ways: 1. Using various types of arpeggios to break up the chords. 2. Introducing different string articulations; try alternating the strings between pizzicato, legato and maybe even staccato. 3. Using various inversions and voicing in the chords thereby adding another level of colour and creating space in the music. (Even though the name of the piece is “Daddy what are shadows made of?” the key word being shadows; the string part does not have to be so heavy - shadows can only exist in relation to light).

Soothing and meditative

Enjoyed this :) It's like watching the Yangtse or the Missisipi river. It's flowing majestically yet powerfully bound to the infinite. The trip sounds like it will never end but you wish it will keep going forever any way ... and when it nevertheless ends you feel it slows down and evaporates like a drop of water on a sunny day almost unnoticed.

Wow! Orchestration, with a soft sentimental feel. Then suspense with an unpinning of pizzicato strings. Now quiet and mysterious. Could this really be music coming from Fort Worth, Texas? No thumping drums, no electric guitars. The original theme returns, modulates, flows into other ideas. Now many voices enter and a Maj7 chord resolves to the tonic for a pretty ending. This music isn't trying to impress anyone. It beckons with a crooked finger, come listen and imagine what you will.

Music for images

You should work a bit on sound and arrangements. In fact, they are too much "electronic keyboard-like" sounds. This type of music can be well adapted to movies or documentaries, but it is necessary to work with more attention on arrangements and sound quality. I find that the piece needs a visual support: as a matter of fact it is not sufficiently varied and elaborated to keep attention and raise interest with only listening

Shheeesshh this is a nice vibe, great quality song Great quality song, I like the smooth vocals on this by King, on a beat that has that new age vibe and bumping beat that gets you turnt up, with its eery synths and sharp snares. The vocals are a mix of cool raps and agitated vocals, stressing a cool hook that is a tribute to the human habits that appreciates the comfort of being with the same 1 like he skipped the 2. Really setting the bar high for N1M artists, this is the type of music we need to support on this platform to take it to the next level.

Melodic film music

Instrumental film genre's that probably does its job of supporting what's on screen. It may not work well without the film action. Still, it's likeable. Just try to imagine what is seen at the movies.

First of all the beat is hot and the intro is very invitational. The hook is catchy and nice, and the lyrics are pretty good. Overall I see greatness in this song. It has potential to top the charts.
