About JordanWall Productions

Derrick Jordan's music career began at 13 as the Trumpet Player for the R&B group, "Monkey and The Funk Bunch," a progressive funk group that backed up notable recording artists "The Temprees," while simultaneously transcending his artistic abilities as a multi-instrumentalist, writer and arranger/composer of music. He was a featured soloist for his Junior High, High School, Marching, Concert, and Jazz Bands as a Trumpeter. At 15, he played with the Michigan Supergroup, "The New Young Brass and Rhythm Band, responsible for arranging music from Tower of Power, Blood, Sweat and Tears and Chicago Covers. The New Young Brass and Rhythm Band auditioned over the phone and successfully became The Brass Byrd, part of the James Brown Review. At 16 years old, headlined with Bobby Byrd (Brass Byrd) part of the James Brown Revue while playing with James Brown at the Apollo Theatre, costarring with such notable performers like the group, "The Brighter Side of Darkness" and Motown Recording Artists Edwin Starr, The Miracles, Millie Jackson and Johnathan Edwards of The Spinners. Headlined in New Orleans with Bobby Byrd on the same show with The Isley Brothers, Bloodstone and the Detroit Emeralds and in New York City with Black Ivory, The Independents, and Harold Melvin and The Blue Notes (featuring Teddy Pendergrass on drums and vocals). After finishing high school and some college, became Assistant Bandleader and Lead Trumpet player of the group, 'Maximum Effect," in charge of horn and vocal arrangements. Moved to California in 1980 where he played lead trumpet for several bands, among them, the R&B group, "Touch," the R&B group "Pins and Needles, "the 10-piece band,"11-22-Crazy (Tower of Power/Earth, Wind and Fire covers). The Alternative Funk and R&B group, "Caustic," Maximum Heat," and "Third Eye Magic. Just released a multi genre smooth acid jazz CD, "Heavy On The 'D' with Jesse Wall, saxophonist and Vice President of Jordan/Wall Productions.
