April is Kathy's birthday month - a time we've always tried our best to celebrate with others by performing music.
This year, we will be sharing our music with our friends in George Community Hall | City of George, Washington during the "official" birthday weekend. We usually visit George at least once per year and are always delighted to have the opportunity for a return visit. This year it's on Saturday, April 13th.
The very next weekend, we are excited to share the stage with The Rough & Tumble (link). They are an extraordinarily fun and highly talented duo currently touring across the United States and back. They may end up with as many instruments on stage as we do - including an accordion! Don't miss these shows. April 19th is at Marys River Grange Hall in Philomath, Oregon. April 20th is at the Old Liberty Theater in Ridgefield, Washington.
As always, we will appear at the Oregon Garden Resort the 4th Sunday of the month.

The garden is planted (other than tomatoes and cucumbers), the yard work is caught up, the house is mostly clean (would you like to come dust?). That means it's time to play music! This month we're a bit late with our newsletter as we've been at the Oregon Festivals and Events Association annual conference in Seaside, Oregon. It was wonderful to see friends from across the state, and to make many new ones!

We'll be using the month of March to continue working on filling our calendar, to write more songs for our next recording, and to plant peas. The gardening bug has hit us HARD!

We're currently working on new songs and performance opportunities for 2024 - 2025 while we wait for it to get nice enough to go outside and do our spring yard clean up.

2024, wow - where does the time go? We are grateful for an outstanding 2023 and are ready to start all over again!
In January, we're looking forward to joining a couple of friends to provide the music for a monthly contra dance held in Salem, Oregon. Not our usual thing, but it promises to be a lot of fun!
On January 20th we are delighted to be appearing at the Hearts to Arts concert series in Mill City, Oregon. This is an outstanding program. If you are interested in attending contact link or 503-507-2941

December is a wonderfully busy month for us. We will be performing somewhere different every single weekend this month, from Falls City to Salem to Philomath to Portland to Silverton. November is a month to be thankful, so we'll start right off by telling you how thankful we are for YOU!! What we do wouldn't be any fun without your friendship and support. Thank you!
We had a wonderful time in Nashville attending The Josie Music Awards. We didn't bring home the trophies, but being a part of the 2.5 percent who made the nomination list is pretty awesome in itself!
Our next public performance will be November 11th at the Winona Grange #271 Second Saturday Concert Series in Tualatin, Oregon. We are the kickoff to the season, so please come out to support live music in this beautiful, historic venue.

After a crazy summer of entertaining, Phoenix is getting ready to head to Nashville for the Josie Music Awards - to be held at the Grand Ole Opry! We have been nominated as Duo of the Year and Folk Album of the Year (Viewpoint).
Recently two of our original songs (Calamity Blues and Look) were proclaimed finalists in the Intercontinental Music Awards. It was so fun to attend the online award ceremony and get to hear musicians from all over the world give their acceptance speeches!
We're beginning to put together the songs for our next album and appreciate your support of our ongoing efforts. Thanks for being here!

The duo released their second album on June 1, 2022. The Boxer, Someday I'm Going to Wake Up, and The House of the Rising Sun are the top streamed/downloaded songs on Spotify. Viewpoint has also won a Global Music Award for folk, lyrics/songwriting. and a link. silver award for Best Cover Song (House of the Rising Sun). Songs off the album are being featured on several specialty shows, including BWH's "Her Voice", The Indie Radio Network, Indie Top Chart, and Women of Substance Radio (WOS) "Music with A Conscience".
Building on the success of Viewpoint, a new single, Calamity Blues, was released on May 1, 2023. This song for our times – for all times, has a country blues-oriented theme and has some fun with the fact that the more things change, the more they stay the same. Calamity Blues has won a bronze medal for Americana singer/songwriter in the Global Music Awards.
