About Paula Standing
Life began in Far North Queensland [Australia] for this folkie, but as a classically trained singer. Paula Standing tread the boards in musicals, operettas and choirs. Moving to SA in the mid 90’s, she explored new genres and in 2001, began penning her own songs. But recording only began in 2010 after teaching herself guitar. Swayed by the likes of Gillian Welch and John Prine, Paula was drawn to ... read more

Hello music listeners,
Just letting you know that I have loaded my single Hiding Out In Tuscany for your listening pleasure.
What a pity we have COVID and it will be a long time before any of us can make it over to Tuscany, except of course those of you who are already there!!
This is the first single from a new album which will be released later in the year. Tuscany is available on all online platforms and if you are super keen, you can order the CD from my website link. I have already had the disc manufactured for those of you who are old school and am happy to post it to wherever you are.
I am launching my next single 'My Heart Goes With You' this Friday July 24 at 7:30pm ACST via a FB Live show straight from my Front Room. You can access the gig via my FB page Events: Facebook
Hope to see you there

After a successful jaunt to Tamworth, it is full speed ahead planning the new single release. Eva from Hot Off The Press is on the job getting the word out, the track is loaded and set to go online March 9 with pre-orders available Feb 16.
The video is in the final stage and should be ready soon.
On top of that I am also planning the album launch for May 25th. The More I Give is a 10 track album that has everything from intrinsically personal subjects to a sneaky, yet dramatic, murder ballad set in the Southern Flinders Ranges.
Hiding Out In Tuscany will whet your appetite for the full story.
This gorgeous piece was co-written by Ash Sheehan, Jacky McCormack, Toby Wells, Rod McCormack and myself. Players: Rod McCormack, Pat Crowley (Piano, piano accordion); Jeff McCormack (Bass)
Pre-orders are available from Feb 16 and you can pre-add to Spotify right now!!

Well the 20's are back and things are still swinging. I am making a return to Tamworth #TCMF2020 for another round of gigs and a full swag of radio interviews. It is going to be a busy week, especially as I have to drive between Tamworth and Nundle everyday.
It has been a hard time for country NSW with more than their fair share of catastrophic bush fires and drought. It has been a difficult choice for a lot of people as to whether it is advisable to even go. But the district is in dire need of support and so I am making the journey to help their economy in these times of hard ship.
I have attached my official TCMF poster, but you can find more details and other appearances on my website link
If you see me at any gigs please come and say hello!

Here we are again, with Christmas and the end of another year heading straight for us. Thank you to all who have played and shared my music this year. And thank you to all who have shared your music with the rest of us.
I have been promoting my Christmas song just recently, but for this note I would like to re-share another ballad of mine that mentions Christmas. This track was listed seventh in the top ten ballads with the Australian Songwriters Association for 2019. I have just learnt that it has also been listed as a semi-finalist in the ballad section for the Tamworth Songwriters Association Salute Awards for 2020.
The Salute Awards night is held during the Tamworth Country Music Festival and I will be there to witness the announcement of all the winners.
Have a wonderful festive season

I have had the best eight days on the Central Coast of NSW despite the catastrophic bush fires raging all around. I spent the time with Rod McCormack recording my next album. What a treat! A true professional producer, capable of drawing out the best in me and helping me develop a new voice and style. I will be sharing this new sound from early 2020 with the release of my first single from the new album.
In the meantime, I have uploaded the final track from my EP Truth & Tricker for you to enjoy. So aptly named 'Beautiful'.
Written about 15 years ago, this is the second time I have recorded it and I hope you like it as much as I do. (Sometimes beautiful doesn't necessarily mean good.)
