About Mick Lee
GREAT Degenerates is a different kind of acoustic band, playing music you'd mostly expect to hear from a rock/fusion/alternative band, using only acoustic instruments, which gives the band its' unique vibe.

Depends what you want b/ground vocals for. If a recording, it'd have to be something I'm comfortable with, and could do a good job for you. You can hear my vocal style on our profile, so if you think I'd be a good fit, send me an mp3 of the track, or a link to where i can hear it, and I'll check it out. Fyi, I can also sing in French and Italian.,
Rod Kight and Joel Schantz
Joel and Rod play electric music with Hard Rocket, and teamed up with Mick to make unusual acoustic music, encompassing pop, r&b, reggae, soul, jazz, funk, rock, and most everything in between. Rod and Joel write songs and play acoustic bass. Joel is also a singer with his own distinct style, and Rod records audio and video for the band, which Mick edits and mixes.

Born and raised in NYC, I've lived and played music in many countries around the world. I lived in London for many years, where I was fortunate to befriend and make music with some of the world's finest musicians. My first pro gig was with Graham Bond, in whose band Jack Bruce and Ginger Baler also began their careers. He was my first real mentor, along with Chris Wood of Traffic, who introduced me to Paul Kossoff of Free, Mitch Mitchell of Jimi Hendrix's band, Lemmy, Ric Grech of Blind Faith, Mick Taylor, Steve Winwood and ,many other world class players. I learned my craft as a singer, guitarist and writer by playing with these amazing musicians, and I'll always be grateful, deep in their debt. Wherever I've lived, from London to Scotland, Burlington, Vermont to Bend, Oregon, New Orleans and now Asheville, North Carolina, I've been very fortunate to hook up with amazing musicians. Just lucky that way, I guess! Making music with Rod and Joel in GREAT Degenerates is a pure pleasure, and I love every minute. We're a very eclectic acoustic band, playing a blend of our own songs, and covers from soul, r&b, jazz, reggae, funk and rock. We never play a song the same way twice, being all about improvisation, which means it's always interesting !

Many moons ago when recording 'The Invisible Line',
I spaced out an important part of the lyric, but mixed the song before I realized it. Now, thanks to the wonders of AI, it's possible to separate the vocal, re-record that part of the lyric, and remix it the way it was meant to be. Folks say they can't hear the difference between the new lyric and the original recording. Hey presto, old song is new again!
(expired link)
Unfortunately, the lyric is still as relelvant today as when I first wrote it. It's been described as 'dark and edgy'.
With many thanks to the massively talented James Litherland, who played both electric guitar AND drums on the track. Some may remember him from the British jazz/rock band Colosseum, which also featured drummer Jon Hiseman and Dick Heckstall-Smith on sax
Please check out what is likely to be my last studio album 'Hands Of Time' on my website (expired link)
You can download individual songs or the whole album, for any amount you choose to contribute. Any amount, small or large, will be MUCH appreciated :)
And my memoir 'Adventures Of An Undiscovered Dinosaur' is availabe on Amazon ~ Ebook $3.95 Paperback $14.95 featuring adventures with Sting, Sheryl Crow, Gladys Knight, Taj Mahal, Mick Taylor, Lemmy and many others.

A review on Amazon last week said:
“This is a great behind the scenes book on the music industry. Mick has met and played with all kinds of biggest-name musicians who created classic rock; this is a must-read for any musician or music lover. He is brutally honest, frank, and self-effacing about his experiences. It is really well-written and such an enjoyable read. I highly recommend this book!”

Ladies and Gents ~
For almost twenty years,I earned a living as a singer/songwriter and musician. I played most every kind of venue, from dive bars in Vermont to Wembley Arena in London. I was fortunate to make music with some of the best in the world, some famous, some infamous and some who were unknown outside their local area., but who were still world class musicians..
I've written a book about my adventures with musicians like Chris Wood of Traffic, Paul Kossoff of Free, Sting,,Mich Taylor, Taj Mahal, and a host of others. To get your free copy of the e-book manuscript, just click on (expired link) and leave a comment that includes your email and/ or N1M address.
To get an added bonus of my most recent album, in your comment, include the name of the band we were opening for on their European tour when we recorded this. Happy trails to you !!

Yo DG's ~
The only mystery about this soundcheck video is how I managed to luck out in the small town of Bend OR, meeting Rich Taelour. Andy Armer, Jeff Ingraham and some other world class musicians. Same happened in London and Findhorn, Scotland, Burlington VT and here in Asheille NC with Rod and Joel. Always been lucky that way.

Good Day music lovers !!
There's a new song on our page, and if you'd like a free download, it's attached here,
We're joined on this one by my friend Jeff Pevar, a GREAT guy. He's toured and/or recorded with CSNY, Ray Charles, James Taylor, Joe Cocker, Phil Lesh and Rickie Lee Jones, among others. I appreciate Peeves for playing bass and percussion on our song.
As many of you know, I've been very fortunate to play with amazing musicians, some famous, some infamous, and some that few people have ever heard of, but are amazing players. I've written a memoir about my adventures as a musician, and you may enjoy reading it if you're into the music of people like Sting, Sheryl Crow, Traffic, the Beatles, Gladys Knight, the Moody Blues and Taj Mahal.
I'll send a free copy of the book to the first three people who message me the name of their favorite song on my youtube page (expired link)
The book is available (also as an e-book) at (expired link)
A Very Merry Crimble to you and yours !
