Ice Sings!

Ice Sings Have you ever heard ice sing? During the early winter in Canada when the ice is just forming on the lake….it is solid enough to walk on but still in the process of forming…the ice sings! I would take my boys out to the lake and we would lie down on the ice, watch the stars and listen to the ice sing… it’s like the cross between a howling wolf and the whistle of the wind. This only happens for a short period of time. While I was teaching in Northern BC and living at the Stoney Creek Potlatch House cabins, my friend Angela would visit and we would have a campfire…one evening the lake sang and she heard it for the first time…it was exciting. It is a rare event and timing and conditions have to be just right. In my song A Mother’s Wish, I use this metaphor because each mother is unique and rare and special. I hope you take the time to listen to this song. Sincerely, Lynn
