Kathy Reese Bio

I started loving music from a very early age. My mom and my grandmother where both pianist but I was never allowed to take music lessons. I come from a large family with 7 kids. Eventually I got a guitar from my sister when I was 16 and started learning all I could about how to write music. I met my soon to be husband and he really taught and encouraged to learn all I could and I eventually picked up the keys at 20. Eventually I became good enough to perform out but I had 3 small kids and decided to keep that my priority. I did music in church and lead worship. I did little demo recording and started learning how to record my material at home. Then the kids were grown but I soon found out I had Meniers disease and it was stealing the hearing in my left Ear. So I had to stop singing but I kept writing and playing music. Than 4 yrs ago I had what’s called a “Labrynthectomy and had a Cochlear implant put in my left ear and had to start wearing a hearing aid in my right ear. I had to relearn how to walk and how to do basic functions. But I kept with it and continued to write play and (expired link) finished my first instrumental album “Ivory Towers” at the time. I played live on a floating stage 3 months later. Then recently I recorded the song 2 light 2 rights which is the first two vocal songs I have recorded since my ear surgery and I am very happy to say My coach is very pleased. So I continue to grow and get better. It’s a challenge but so is anything worth doing. My new motto: Where there is a will there is a way!I hope that his inspires other musicians facing this terrible disease that it doesn’t have to be the end. Where there is a will there is a way!
