Well 2021 is done and dusted, 2022 greets us and Covid still impacts the Musical World, I am still to write a Covid related song maybe a very cryptic one later, even my little town of 1200 souls though has been affected, I have friends and colleagues I work with in isolation, its only a matter of time before we all are impacted.
So just enjoy your musical journey and take solace in the music you create.

Hello everyone, my first e-newsletter for ages, I have been procrastinating for ever, I have been happy just playing live with a band or just jamming for ages, also doing live sound engineering for many other acts and bands, who appear and perform and then have a nice flash CD for sale after the show.
I really want to get a CD recorded and get my own particular style of music out there for perusal, maybe I have been overcome with the fear of failure or not living up to an unrealistic standard that I set for myself. I guess I need to say "OK this me, this is DAVE HUGHES, this is my music like it, love it or your choice just leave it.
I have been working on my Music Room (AKA Escape from the real world Room !) lately and I am lining it and setting it up to record my self, I have enough gear to record. Now I just need to practice intently and record my "treasures".

Apparently i have 500 subscribers ..wow!
A quick message .... I have so many song ideas rolling around in my head to turn into songs it hurts sometimes unless i write them down.
Soon my life will change when my working life will prematurely come to an end , i will be shortly made redundant from my power station job after way too msny years working shiftwork.
So my music which has been a hobby for many years will become moreso my life , i am really looking forward to some new found freedom to play more music and bein able to express myself more and enjoy life more........

Thank you all for your support and your kind words of encouragement.
I need to do lots more work on my music and I need to find myself a quiet place in town to work. I live in a quiet country town but at times it's still too noisy. I would love a musical retreat , a place to hide away and write some new songs and record the songs I have already written.
I just need to get off my ass and do it I know ..... I will keep you all posted. Namaste.

As I say Music is my life everything else is just there..... If I can't pick up a guitar and sing a song or three every couple of days I get withdrawal.
I have to work to survive but I play and sing for the goodness of my soul.
I can only put three songs on N1 unless I pay a yearly subscription, I have plenty of other songs I'd love to post but I haven't gone that next step yet to pay extra for more songs.
But keep supporting my music and I will go the next step ...... It's a pity I can't make a living out if music ....;-)

Recently I had the privilege to be asked to play at a charity concert in Roxby Downs. This is a mining town a leasurely 3 hour drive from Quorn , my home town. I was also supplying half the PA and lighting and setting that up too. I had a few practices with some friends in a band and the plan was that I was to play solo on 4or 5 songs and then the band was coming up to support me.
So after travelling for 3 hours and then setting up PA and lighting for 5 hours I played some covers and a couple of originals with my Taylor T5 and it was all recorded which is cool. Then asked for the band to come up and find that they had all gone off for a shower and change of clothing except the drummer. So I had to continue on acoustic and harp with just a drummer.
Oh well that's showbiz I guess, a very tiring weekend now just waiting to get a copy of the sound files so I can check them out and maybe up load some......;-)

Practising solo last night and tried a couple of new songs that I have recently written. One song I wrote in an hour after seeing a paragraph my wife wrote for a card.

Music is always a journey, doesn't matter if you are a listener who's drifts from artist to artist as your music tastes change and mature. Or if you are a singer songwriter who is their own journey through the goodtimes and the bad times and records their journey in song to graciously share with the world. Or sometimes just write for themselves as a memoir for their children to remember them by once they have gone into the next plane of existence , whatever that may be depending on your particular faith.
So I am on a journey and it is slow going, distractions and speed bumps slow me down but I will get there and as long as I don't lose sight of where I want to go I will get there sooner or later.
So watch out for me along the way and say hello from time to time to let me know you are still there and I will look in on your journeys too.
