Don Issac

Don started out as my drummer in an early band but got tired of packing drum cases long after everyone else was finished. So he had me teach him bass fundamentals and went on to be rock solid bassman.

John (me) did a lot of solo work on 3 CD'S on the original mp3 music site getting paid per 1000 plays & publishing discs etc. I licensed some fun old standards that I will rotate through N1M .
I jammed with Freddie King , Johnny Winters , Jimmy Vaughn , Bugs Henderson ,Edgar Cruz , I was the head usher in Dallas at the Memorial Auditorium. Ushered up close Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin , Iron Butterfly , James Brown , The Chambers Brothers , Vanilla Fudge +
Cooked for Styx , Willie Nelson , Cheap Trick , Heart , Pat Benatar , Mel Gibson , Joe Nickels , Al Green , The Wreckers , Earth Wind & Fire , Jewel ,The Temptations, The Commodors , etc.......The days of the original mp3 site hosted my first online music presence . I did 3 CDs of solo fun tunes that went from the mp3 site out to a few blues radio format jockeys etc. The solo work was on an old 4 track tape deck. Using LOTS of GUITARS , a K1000 synth ,2 congas , E-bow , and done as quick as 1 offs , no do overs . Tired Possum Blues , Hard Roads Blues ,Blues B4 Guitarski , Amped Out , El Gato ( a cat in Puerta Vallarta MX) , Raga To Ravi , Guitar Raga for Dr. Shandrakant (Ravi's prodigy student)
This band started in 2002 from 3/4 of my old band when I met Jeff the other guitar player. We hit it off 1 afternoon and I called up my old band mates & set up a 4 piece jam. We all enjoyed Hendrix , Pink Floyd , Cream , Freddie King , old blues etc. We quickly turned into 20 Minute Nap as a band and kept the name for 5 years untill BLUTO popped up during a party & we changed our name . Did some Tequila shots & lots of jamming. Nobody but me would sing , so I was stuck as a solo vocal with NO harmony etc ! Really had lots of fun playing around central Oklahoma. Our biggest gig was the yearly festival from Beta Theta Pi's Woodstock Party in a big field with bus loads of frat & sorority girls from OU & OSU attending. They worked on tiedye clothes for a week prior & looked like a field of Hippies. Long , fun sets and the 2nd band wasn't ready so we got to play for almost 2 hrs. This was a fun group of guys wanting to kill 2-3 Friday nights a month jamming & sipping Tequila etc. project. After 9 months or so we ventured out to play for a company party ., did the Hall Park Summer Festival Stage , played at BROTHER's patio , played a Christmas party for OU faculty at 11am that felt really strange to sing Blues & drinking party songs that early , house warming party on the new slab of concrete , . Mostly enjoying playing for each other to get an approving nod from Jeff on guitar if I ever came up with a fun lick etc. Never expected to post anymore of my music after the original MP3 site shut down. I donated my checks $ to the high school's music class for good KARMA just in case. This site drafted me over 9+ months of emails to get on here. The stuff I listen to [ Gary Moore , Buddy Whittington , Robbie King , SRV , JIMI ,etc. ] make me feel like a beginner for sure. We're at best a mediocre bar band and try to make up for lack of talent with blind enthusiasm ! Thanks for listening & spreading the word for us..John , Jeff , George ..

LOCAL LIVE MUSIC :-)

John from BLUTO wants you to get out of the house , apt., or where ever you sit watching KRAP on your phones or TVs and go support your LOCAL musicians. It's been a killing blow to entertainers & support people with the loss of crowds from the big Covid set back. BUT , they are out here looking for your bright shiny faces with a cold glass & a big smile or singing along with the link of the payback for stage musicians is crowd feedback and applause or a few approving whistles !!! If we didn't need an audience we wouldn't have packed up all this gear and instruments etc , bought expensive gasoline ,practiced till we think you'll love it etc. SO ,don't live on your phone in the club unless you're posting band pics to help them out. And Quit playing so much loud pool and acting like the jackass center of attention. (you're not) the band is.
Bluto music is still stacked up on my 3TB disc waiting for me to watch gig videos etc to hear something I think you'll like. Summer is here and will be a HOT one it feels like .Take some tunes out by some water in the shade with a cold drink and enjoy yourselves. If you don't now ,when are you going to get another chance ? Eat desert first ?
Photo is Tim my best friend and musical partner in crime lately on the front row at the Dallas Guitar Show last month watching Andy Timmons Band. FUN TIME :-)

Dallas Guitar Festival 2022

The Dallas Guitar Festival at the end of April was a 3 day market of thousands of new & vintage instruments. With 2 stages of performers all day long. My long time friend Tim and I wandered through the hall and met some crazy good players. I got to meet a famous player I'm FB friends with and see his set. Buddy Whittington formerly with John Mayall. Andy Timmons from the front row was a dream for sure. I did buy 1 more guitar , a Gretch Lap Steel to add to the collection.
We both left energized to start some nee projects and play more. Thank you for the notes of encouragement and what you are listening to. FREE MUSIC.

BLUTO - Jimmy Reed the MAN behind it .

John from Bluto here. People asking about my beginnings on the guitar back when. Late in the 6th grade my brother Roy was getting serious playing the bass and guitar. He listened to some really great LP's when he could. One day he started teaching me the BASICS of the 12 bar Blues and Rock N Roll . The best example for me was listening to JIMMY REED Live at Carnegie Hall. He plays the pure BLUES that shows you How , When , Where & Why you play that soulfull longing type of MUSIC . It's not POP at all but sped up and you get Cream , Led Zepplin ,John Mayall & The Yardbirds. The big British Blues explosion was a direct result of the American Black artists that went to England for an audience when it wasn't happening here.
Anyone wanting to learn guitar or just learn the history of Rock N Roll should listen to that album free on YouTube. (Johnny Winters made a lot of old songs sound new again by turning up the speed but Jimmy Reed wrote the songs ) Spring is upon us and I wish World Peace came with it. Humanity has to learn to live together and play nice if there is to be a long term future for US ALL. PEACE

JAMES BROWN SHOW :=0

On 8/28/68 James Brown put on a Huge stage production in Dallas at the Memorial Auditorium . There were about 32 people in his band , backup singers , dancers , announcers , managers , Big double rows of horn players , two drummers etc. WOW. This was a racially charged time and a big film company was set up to shoot it as a movie. Through my High School's ROTC I was the HEAD USHER in charge of about 20 kids that was the main crowd control and ushering . I sent them all out in position. T H E N the show started. James at his best. People started dancing in the aisles all over. I called a meeting to not stop anybody from dancing and just hang out . We did and saw the wildest gig of all time . We took off our usher arm bands , jackets and helped the crowd boogie and have a good time. NO FIGHTS , thrown trash etc. Just a big big crowd of his fans having a great day . I'll never forget it. The movie was produced and shows the raw energy James had and how the crowd responded . HE WAS THE KING THAT DAY.
Thank you to all of the BLUTO Fans and Networkers ! YOU ARE THE BEST
Stay safe and well all over the world where you are all spread out now .
