About Asylum Avenue

Bio: Keith Charles Dovoric is a NJ-bred-and-based musician, singer and songwriter with over twenty years' worth of composing, recording, and performing experience. Having learned guitar at age 14 from his uncle Ron (also Dovoric, formerly of No Fun Band), Keith sought to fuse music with his early-on interest in poetry and literature, thus producing a lifelong commitment to creating unique and passionately-wrought compositions. He has performed on many prominent stages throughout the greater-Metro area, including the famed CBGB in Manhattan, Love Sexy in Hoboken, and Clifton's Clash Bar. As both a group member and a solo artist, Mr. Dovoric has written and recorded a wealth of original material in a variety of genres, including rock, folk, blues, country, and even Psychobilly. He has released five solo albums to date; his latest, "Disowned," was released independently earlier this year and is available via direct mail-order.

Referencing Franz Kafka, T. S. Eliot, and Hunter S. Thompson, among others, Dovoric's pithy lyrics suggest themes of loneliness, anxiety, and disenchantment with culture and media. "I tend to paint in broad strokes," he admits of the lyrics, "but hopefully I work toward something approaching authenticity in terms of my feelings and views." As for inspirations, he confides, "I've always looked to the greats for tutelage. In professional basketball, if you want to approach greatness, you look to Michael Jordan; in songwriting, lyric-writing, it's Dylan, Lennon, Young, Cohen, Zevon, and Prine." Mr. Dovoric lives with his wife and son in the suburbs of Essex County. He teaches writing.
