Hey Everybody! Yes, it's true! I added a new song on this site! A song I that was published on my first CD AN AFRICAN IN PARIS, and talks about an African Freedom fighter, a kind of African Robin Hood. Go and check it out and let me know if you like it!

Finally I am able to connect with all of you. Thank you so much to those who have written messages and encouragements. I am blessed to know that my music touches somebody's heart and makes a difference.
So: Several changes are coming up. I am re-baptizing the name of my site. Here's why: Joyful Music & Arts is the name of my music academy in Los Angeles where I teach, mentor and motivate kids and adults to love music. You can find more information at (expired link) . However, my music career, productions, tracks and information about concerts and tours can be found at (expired link) , and so the name of this site will change to MAKINTO . And because my performing and producing career is about to be revived after a hiatus of at least 10 years, I will successively post more music from previous albums as well as some newer stuff as it is being produced. So here it is : MAKINTO ! I will change the title next week to give you guys time to know that Joyful Music and Arts is transitioning to MAKINTO! Appreciate you all!

Hello fans

Just to let you know that we have posted a new song to the playlist at N1M. ( I did promise to post more songs). Here is a early rap song that we recorded in 1999 for the Malimba album. It is part of a musical with the same name that documents the history of African American music from Africa to the present. Combined with a then new sound ( I know Rap sounds a little different today 17 years later) this song depicts a mind set that has been sung about by Bob Marley, where the key to being set free as a human being is the elimination of your own mental slavery and the transformation of the way you think about yourself: Are you a victor or a victim? Only if you embrace your history and transform a negative past into a present of positive self awareness can you build a successful future. NO SLAVE NO MORE is a powerful hymn to that transformational process. So be inspired by the lyrics as well as the coming together of different stylistic elements in this rap song. Enjoy! We love to praise our creator God through Jesus Christ, and love to touch the community and the entire world with positive, creative and godly music.

Hello Fans and Friends of JOYFUL MUSIC & ARTS ( JOMA)

Joyful music & Arts ( JOMA) is a music academy, music production company and creative collective in Rolling Hills Estates/ Rancho Palos Verdes in the greater Los Angeles area in California under the leadership of MAKINTO. Makinto is an international performing artist who has travelled the world collaborating with many great artists such as Miriam Makeba , Hugh Masekela, (expired link) Crosby, as well as with his own band and projects. His first CD AN AFRICAN IN PARIS is available on I tunes, and "Blues of the Free Man" is a cut from his 1999 album Malimba-Music is Hope. We will successively make more of those songs available on this platform.
There is much more to JOMA , which we will tell you in the next messages. In the meantime, we want to encourage you to be creative, fearless and express your talents in the most genuine way possible.
