I've been promising to start releasing new music for months. Today I'm posting an unfinished version of my song, You're Gone. There are bumps and warts here and there, but you'll get a taste of one of the recordings I'm working on. (I hope you'll find it listenable.) Please let me know what you think! I've been unexpectedly busy with some other projects that I didn't know I'd be doing -- I've started working with some friends on a few of my vintage songs with pop/punk group, The Metros. I was really fortunate to reconnect with The Metros' Chris Marksbury, which led to him inviting me to contribute to one of his songs called, Somehow. I decided to put together an orchestration for it and I wasn't at all sure how he'd react, but he liked it! I really love Chris's music. (Check him out on Soundcloud!) That led to me asking Chris to sing and play his old parts for a Metros song called, Can't Be You. (I posted an unfinished version of, Can't Be You, here a while ago.) A great musician named, Rick Austin played bass guitar and added vocals as well. I have two other Metros songs in the works right now. These songs are mad fun to to produce! Stay tuned! Another reconnection happened with my band, Like Birds. Co-founding member, Rich Goldberg and I never really stopped writing more songs and playing together, but we recently been getting down to doing some serious work. We're writing way too many songs, but there are worse things to complain about! That wasn't enough, so we started rehearsing a new version of our (6-piece "electric") group. This time we have have Bob Hammerstein playing drums and adding vocals and Rick Austin as new bassist, also adding vocals. John Forsdahl is back with us, on keyboards and Doug Goldberg is back on slide guitar and vocals. Rich and I also have a very cool stripped down, acoustic version of Like Birds that's really kind of magical. The new electric Like Birds configuration sounds HUGE and rocking. There are already two vintage Like Birds recordings posted here on N1M. Stay tuned for audio and video recordings from the ongoing story. I'll keep you posted! It feels incredible playing with so many of my dearest friends again, in person! I love summertime and it's great to have some freedom again to celebrate life, love, and music together!
