Tangmonk is Randy Jones.
I also play various other instruments when a song calls for it, but I've been training on keys my whole life and even still currently take weekly piano lessons. Very interested in online collaboration! (Or in person if you're in the Boston, MA USA area!) Particularly, but certainly not restricted to: vocalist/lyricist, lead guitar, bass, and percussion. But I'm open to all skilled artists! If you can play something cool on a doorknob, I'll listen! (My piano teacher says I'm more a lover of sound than strictly of music.) But as a solo artist in every sense of the word, I feel like I really want to collaborate with other musicians not only for feedback, but the inspiration I get from great musicians enables and causes me to play in ways I normally wouldn't have dreamed of and expand and enrich the music as a whole. Message me if you're interested!

Hi!
I know it's been a while since I've sent out any news, but I've uploaded a new song called A Storm In Devon that I'm very happy to tell you about!
It's entirely based on an amazing poem by Maryann Corbett. Please come check it out!
The lyrics, which are used by permission, are a beautiful translation written by Maryann Corbett of an excerpt from Aldhelm's Carmen Rhythmicum, which she has titled "A Storm in Devon". Maryann Corbett's brilliant words were what inspired every note of this song as well as the title, and I highly recommend that you look into her other marvelous works at (expired link). To read the powerful lyrics of this song and learn more about their context, please visit the site where the translation was originally published online, Cerise Press: (expired link)

Hi Everyone!
Sorry that the newsletters haven't been as regular as usual but I'm still job hunting and it's taking up most of my time.
I have been cranking out a LOT of new music lately though! The stress of job hunting has at least given me more motivation to go hammer the keyboards every day!
One of my favorite new songs that's posted here is called Wideband and it is currently on the charts at #1 in my state (MA), #2 in the US, and #3 GLOBALLY in the Instrumental genre for this website!! I would really appreciate it if you would PLEASE give it a listen, "favorite" it, and share it if you would be so kind, and help me move it to #1 GLOBALLY!!!
I'd really love for it to hit #1 Globally, so if it does I'll make it a free download to celebrate and I'll put up more new songs too!!!
***Update - That song's positions on the charts completely tanked even though I had a promotion campaign going and it got a TON of shares!! So, since it crashed on the charts and I already had a newer finished version done, I've replaced it with the finished version***
As always, thanks to all of you for always giving me SO much support and encouragement!! You don't know how much getting all of your messages means to me! A lot of times, they are what tips the scales and motivates me to go write new music and just keep at it in general!!
Thanks again!

I noticed that my "listen" stats have tanked in the past week, so I cleaned house and deleted everything!
I've put two new songs up already and there's another one coming that's being very kindly worked on by an actual producer (I really suck at that. I just layer and layer and over-use effects until it gets all muddy!)
This guy's stuff ALWAYS sounds fantastic!! He does guitar instrumentals and he's an amazing guitarist too! If you haven't heard of him, check him out:
http://www.numberonemusic.com/elmagicohectorlopeztesillos
So while he works on that, I've put up these two "new" songs! I can't call both of them new since one of them has been posted here before, but now there's a video for it - be sure to check that out and the other videos on my YouTube page - and hit "Subscribe" please!! The song was well liked so I went ahead and put it up.
But I also put up my latest work which has never been released until now. It's a complex piece for a specific purpose: This is a soundscape/ambient piece that I designed and created specifically for quickly inducing a meditative state. Make sure you won't be disturbed for at least 15 minutes and 30 seconds. Then hit play, close your eyes (and keep them shut - very important!!), and then just relax! You might feel a little vertigo, but it's supposed to do that! Just keep your eyes shut and ride it out - surf it like a wave! When it all ends and fades out, open your eyes slowly and have a gentle stretch and you'll feel like you just took a three hour nap!! You can also play it as ambient music with your eyes open as well, you just won't get the "head-trip" part (as much, and depending on "conditions"). Also, this is a free download so you can take it wherever you want and share it as much as you like! Just give Tangmonk some help and credit and maybe share my page? Thanks and Enjoy!!

Hi Everyone!
I'm very excited and happy to announce that my new CD, Tangmonk, is finally released and available for purchase!
This CD has much more of a variety of styles and more structured songs than my last one (Benthic) which was specifically a concept piece.
It's more of a showcase of the variety of my different writing and playing styles (which is why I simply named it Tangmonk) and some songs on it are by far the best work I've ever done!!
There's even a cover song - Ten Years Gone originally by Led Zeppelin and a MAD classical solo piano piece called Danzas Criollas pt. V written by Alberto Ginastera.
Also the last song - Wanted, reached #1 GLOBALLY in the Progressive Rock genre on the Number One Music charts!!
The price is only $10, but anyone who wants to help a starving artist can donate more if they want!
I hope you all enjoy it! Please let me know what you think after a few listens!! Also, sharing the link would help me out a lot!!

As always - Thanks SO much for your support!!

I finally forced myself to stop making changes and send in the files for my new CD over the weekend!
It's extra tough when you're a completely solo artist and can't hand the project off to anyone and get it off your hands or have someone saying "stop messing with it"!
It will take around a week for the cover song licenses to clear. There are two cover songs on the CD - Ten Years Gone (Led Zeppelin), and a solo classical piano piece - Suite de Danzas Criollas pt. V (Alberto Ginastera).
This CD is a lot different from Benthic. This new CD is more of a showcase of my various styles of playing and writing, whereas Benthic was very much a concept piece. That's why I just named this new CD Tangmonk - it's just a wide variety of my works.
I'll send out an update as soon as it's available!
And as always, and most importantly - thanks SO much for all of your constant support and encouragement!! I really appreciate it a lot when you guys share my music and send me encouraging emails! Since my musical style isn't really immediately accessible to "the masses", with your help sharing my music, I've been able to get WAY more exposure than I could ever get by myself and I can't thank you enough!! Thanks to all of your help, my mailing list has well over 300 subscribers and it's growing steadily! That's an audience I could never have reached on my own and again, thank you all SO much!!

Hi everyone!
This has been a great week music-wise! My song "Wanted" that's posted on N1M is #1 in my state (Massachusetts), #1 in the (expired link)., and NUMBER ONE GLOBALLY in the charts for the Progressive Rock genre!!! Thanks to ALL of you!! I even got a special #1 "Genre Chart Topper" badge added to my page! Plus I've been making progress on a lot of new music!
All of your support and so many extremely wonderful emails from you guys have really encouraged me to get the project I'm working on finished! I should be ready to release it within two weeks! It's got lots of different styles of music on it, including my own cover version of Led Zeppelin's Ten Years Gone! I'll send an update when it's ready!
As you've probably noticed, I put up a couple of new songs within the past week. Unfortunately, with a free membership on this website I can only post three songs at a time and I didn't want the songs that were already there to get "stale". So that means I have to take songs down to put up new ones. I can't get the premium membership right now because I got laid off from my job (after being there 18 years!) so I can't upgrade my membership until I find another "day job"!
BUT since you all have been so supportive and encouraging (I really do love getting all of your emails, and I respond to every one), if I've taken down a song that you really liked, and it's not on Benthic which I have made available to you all for free, just send me an email and I'll send you the MP3 for free, just because you guys are so awesome!
I guess since I've been getting emails from so many of you, you are able to respond to this newsletter and I get your messages in my personal email and hopefully you've been getting my responses. But, if you'd rather email me directly I'd be very happy to hear from you and send you any song that I've taken down. Just send it to: (expired link)
Also, for more up to the minute updates, I'd love it if you would go to my Facebook page and "Like" it! There you'll get more information about things like the equipment I use, unreleased songs, and other updates! Just go here and click "Like" please!

Again, thank you all so very much and I'll let you know when the new CD is ready!
Sincerely,
Tangmonk

Hi!
I really want to thank all of you for your support and encouragement! I'm so happy that there are people (other than me) who like my music!
Two of the three songs that I have posted on this website (Expultrice!! and Manta) are from a big project that I did last year called Benthic.
In sincere thanks to you all, I'd like to offer you a free download of the entire Benthic project! I strongly recommend that you read the "Album Notes" as they will give you some background on the project. If you don't feel like reading all of that, you can skip down to the "Track Description" section. That will tell you what's going on in each track.
I created Benthic as a soundtrack that doesn't need a movie. It's an undersea exploration tour for your imagination! The track descriptions tell you what your current surroundings are like and/or what types of undersea life you're watching and what they're doing. Then you just let the music and your mind do the rest!
Please follow the link below to Soundcloud and you can download each of the songs from the whole project and also read the Album Notes. I'd recommend playing them in order, but it's over 80 minutes in total and there are different things going on in each track. So if you don't have that much time, the tracks can stand on their own.
Also, please feel free to share the link with anyone you want! It's a free download for everyone as my way of saying "Thanks" to you for all of your support and encouragement!! I really hope you enjoy the whole Benthic experience!

Thanks again!!
