About Synthetic Visions

My story is simple, growing up with instrumental music in the 1970's with much thanks to my mum, she introduced me to The Shadows, Joe Meek's Tornadoes, Acker Bilk etc, there seemed to be a lot of melodic tunes around back then, even stuff on British TV themes such as Black Beauty, Hammer House of Horror, Armchair Thriller, Flame Trees of Thika, Avengers they all had the same melodic feel about them which I loved.

Then Jean Michel Jarre burst onto the scene in the summer of 1977 with similar memorable melodies with the added twist of sounding like no other music around then being wholly created with synthesizers. All these tunes would spin around in my head largely forgotten over time until 1984 when computer and electronic music seemed to be everywhere by which time I was 15, dabbling with a Commodore 64 and Vic20 yearning for a synth and trying to create my own masterpiece of my own in homage to those old tunes.

Howard Jones was by now my biggest influence along with Depeche Mode and Yazoo. Then I bought a copy of Jarre's LP Oxygene/Equinoxe and pow! that was it, I was transported back to the 70's again when everyone else around me had seemed to have moved on listening to Wham and Duran Duran and me 70's electronica..........

Dreaming of buying a proper synth, Casio brought out the CZ101 and that was it, my future love of synths and electronic music was set as I could just about afford one. I then followed Tangerine Dream, Kraftwerk, Klaus Schulze, discovering a massive talent called Mark Shreeve who became my new hero, ian Boddy, Wavestar etc. Over the years the 'studio' grew, my dabbling on the keyboard proved to be almost tuneful and so it went on.

In the 90's, the Shamen took me to a different level and with Danny Ramplin on Radio One he introduced me to Eurotrance and Robert Miles. I knew I could compete and by then working on my first proper CD called Millennium Dawn which friends and family seemed to like. 1996 saw my second disc called Mind Journey of which one track Odyssey of the Mind is on this site, this sold quite well but my production line couldn't keep up with the orders which was a shame and then I produced 1997 Realms of Paradise. 1999 saw Distant Times and then an EP called Odyssey.

I became a dad in 1999 and didn't get back into music until 2006 as time taken up with my family. I produced a track with Mike Knight, a local DJ and this was played at a gig at South Parade Pier 2004.

Much change in the studio as I moved away from trance and did a project solely around medieval music as I have always had an affinity with this kind of music as well. This brings me almost up to date with several more discs done which need polishing up with graphics and stuff to make them look good..........
