Awaken to Love

Lovely Song!!!

You have a nice tone. I like and enjoy listening to this song because it's light and laid back and easy to listen to. Your voice kinda reminds me of a mix between Michael McDonald and Otis Redding. Keep up the great work sir!!! I also enjoy your song because I can hear the authenticity of it, there is nothing "fake" about your song. Most of the music I hear nowadays doesn't have that conviction in it anymore because everyone just wants to make turn up music and imaginary music and it doesn't touch the hearts of people. But definitely, keep up the great work!!!!

More of these messages, please!

An intimate piece of folk music here, with splendid guitar tunes and harmony vocals, and with an optimistic and promising message. Actually I think we need more of these in this turbulent time. Only thing I'd like to mention is that I don't see the necessity of the two breaks where the guitar stops playing. It's interrupting the flow of the song. I would let the guitar keep up the groove and maybe even generally play it a bit more percussive. But basically it's a good one!

Little advice that was requested in your commment my friend!

A little bit of advice because of your request of wanting to know of what would make the song work or not! From listening to 'The Sun Still Shines', I'd like to say that 'I believe', that the song itself would have a greater impact if a couple of things were changed,, first off would be that the strumming into the vocals would be louder as it is very difficult to hear the music! I like the humming in the vocals although it's my opinion that they perhaps could be placed a tad bit more directly into the vocals! I actually like that dark tone of your vocals but as I said, really believe you have to up the sound of the instruments, it will really bring out your vocals! Yes,, I am a professional artist! Keep it up Steven.... .. DG

Elvis inspired tune

I like the minimalistic sound, and have always found that to be enjoyable. Your voice reminds me of Elvis at times. Is that intentional? Seems like a better title would be "The Light Is Always On". I could not make out some of the words, but again I do appreciate the tune. Nice and mellow Elvis inspired tune that could be good in a sound track for film or TV. Have you pitched it to any opportunities? The mastering could be a little hotter, but that is just my opinion. Keep on recording those tunes!

Rich Bass Voice Sings Uplifting Heartfelt Message

Helpful

I truly enjoyed listening to Bass singer/songwriter Steven D. Lightspring's heartfelt song "The Sun Still Shines." His confident soulful folk style is compelling and very affable. The nice rich tone in his voice is at it's best in the third verse where the intonation is also best, probably because it is warmed up and fitting into the pocket best by this part of the song. When the production is minimal as this, it's very exposed. Every flaw and slide into and out of the pitch is very naked and noticeable. But even with this, Stephen's honesty shines and one can overlook the minor flaws. His songwriting is nice and understandable as well as uplifting. This is a good song to put on when you need a minute or two of encouragement or having a rough day. I liked it enough to listen to more of his inspired music.

The first thing I notice about Steven's work is the beautiful folk guitar arrangements. The vocals are soft, soothing and poetic, complete with background vocals that compliment the chorus wonderfully. Good work, lot's of soul and a creative spirit went in it. The mood and atmosphere fit this genre well. Strong effort. Recommend hearing more this artist, wish the volume on the master was higher.

This is one of those songs that once it starts your hook. Beautifully crafted it lifts you and makes you stop and think. Ideally suited on a film sound track or just on an iPad, you cant help but love it. Steven's vocals are soothing and with a melodic folk guitar riff it just carry's you on a journey.

Good folk tune!

The first thing I thought when I heard you start singing was, whoa...this guy could totally be an Elvis impersonator. This is for sure some easy listening music. It almost sounds like there are 2 separate songs in here with the hard stop in the middle of the song. The great thing about folk music is how incredibly flexible you can be with your style. I am always pleasantly surprised by the folk artists on here and how they completely bring a whole new sound to folk music. I honestly don't have anything to say about how you can improve. You have a solid sound, and it sounds like you are a very experienced writer and musician. I look forward to listening to more of your music!

Very interesting start to the song with the falsetto. Overall a very soothing song. Relaxing and a nice performance on all instruments. I am aware you do all your own vocals and instrumentation usually so i assume this is the case with this song as well. Only thing i would change as a personal preference would be the mixdown. Putting it together with a small bit of silence between each part. I say this mainly as someone who is a audio engineer and musician so it is my preference only and not a critique. All the best.
