Lisa A. Johnson, also known as "LJ" to some is a gifted singer/songwriter, performer and author, who discovered her talent for singing and writing at the age of 7; however, growing up in a family full of singers and musicians, as a toddler she was able to absorb music and lyrics instantaneously and loved to sing. As a teenager, she displayed her musical talents by participating in talent show competitions. It was then that she realized the value of her singing ability and won many first-place recognition awards. She has made special appearances at weddings, concerts, Valentines Balls/dinners, church anniversaries, banquets, funerals, as well as being the special guest for the Gospel Fest events and youth conferences held along the Gulf Coast. She has travelled to various places including, but not limited to Illinois, Louisiana, Wisconsin, New Jersey, California and North Carolina- just to name a few. Lisa started to expand her singing abilities by performing background vocals with local artists on projects in which she penned her own lyrics. As she continued to write, she began to focus on putting together songs for her debut album entitled "This Time" - a personal CD that has the ability to capture the listener with its soulful contemporary songs and heartfelt lyrics. Her sophomore album, "How I Made It Through", includes songs such as 'Shout About It', 'How Great Thou Art', a jazz selection entitled 'I Say No!' and more. In 2015, Lisa presented "A Night of Praise" Live with Lisa Johnson and friends in whch she performed several of her songs from her debut and sophomore album with the help of friends. Lisa shows growth as well as character within her writing ad vocals. Fast forward to 2019, Lisa participated in the Gulf Coast Gospel Music Awards tour as well as the 2019 3rd Annual Gulf Coast Gospel Music awards (GCGMA) an official background vocalist. In September 2022, she was co-host as well as a guest performer at "Igniting the Flame with Christ" Christian Concert. November 2022 marked a milestone for Lisa as she was awarded the “Gospel Artist on the Rise” award from WVIU RADIO MUSIC AWARDS. Continue to listen for more music.
