About KouliE

Richard “Koulie” Glass was born on July 19th 1989 in Miami Fl. The son of Jackie Lynch known as “Timi” to most of Jamaica who sang back-up for living legend Beres Hammond. His father Richard Glass a well-known business man in Atlanta, Ga.

Coming from a family with a musical back ground Koulie was subconsciously influenced by music from the womb. With his mother on tour and his father serving a life sentence Richard was sent to live in Decatur, GA with his grandparents. At the age of 16 Koulie decided to take his talent to the next level recording his voice for the first time and performing live at local clubs in Atlanta, not knowing the response he would get he was pleasantly surprised that the audience was receptive to his music. Growing up in a household that catered to many genres of music this young man’s influences are not your typical. When asked to name, names of these artist that influenced him Koulie will blow your mind with names like Simon and Garfunkel, Bob Marley and the Wailers, Jay-Z, Mob Deep, Thelonious Monk, Tupac, Johnny Cash, Nina Simone, Biggie, Outcast, Vera Hall and 50 Cent. Growing up in a Jamaican household Koulie naturally gravitated to Reggae music.

After winning a high school superlative for most likely to win a Grammy/Oscar senior year in high school up against a peer that was signed to a major label he realized that he had something special. Over the years Koulie developed a style all his own mixing the Jamaican and American cultures rapping over hip-hop beats with a congo drum not neglecting to incorporate the patois. Meeting his father for the first time after serving 25 years gave him a new found inspiration but the death of his grandfather shortly after sent him into a deep depression. Music is what got him through this devastating time in his life. Pouring his heart and soul into lyrics and his production this young man is a force to be reckoned with.

Koulie wants nothing more but to change the world one day at a time, his studying of revolutionaries and leaders that came before him inspires him to motivate and uplift the spirits of all those who feel like their circumstances leave them with no hope. He knows how it feels to be hopeless and takes pride being the underdog, he knows the world awaits something new something original. They say that nothing is new under the sun, but I can guarantee we have never seen anything like Koulie. Everything about his character is unique and he’s full of positive energy. His locks hang long and are full of wisdom and courage, and his most valued belief is in unity and his message is something that the world can relate too..
