We uploaded a new version for Eternal Flatfoot. The music arrangement competition in Mooste is coming again thins weekend. We are going to play the Eternal Flatfoot as a free choice tune. The other tune is from southern Estonia, called "Kulla imä" -"Dear mother" and is compulsory song to all contestants. There are 16 bands competing, so we do our best.

We know, we promised that maybe we can send our tune Eternal Flatfoot as a studio recording, but... things don't always go as we wish. The reason is actually quite simple- Gajane lives in north Estonia, her brother in the center and 3 others in the south. And we all have our dayjobs aslo, so we kinda struggle sometimes to have one weekend together :) So please forgive us.
Viljandi Folk Music Festival is next week and our band has a privilege to be on stage. We won special prise from Moisekatsi Elohelü (the youtube links that i sent last time), and we won the opportunity to give a 30 minute concert at the festivals Green Stage. As Gajane is not in Estonia at this time (she's going to Austria and Hungary with my family, to see Alps and F1 in Hunagroring and she ad tickets bought long before winning the prize), we found a very great replacement for her. Her name is Marju and she is a great violonist, who has travelled to US and Iceland and many more places. On 31.07 and 01.08 KoKoKo has 2 concerts, so... we are not going anywhere. And we hope you all stay with us.

We will write to you soon and we really hope, we get to record your favourite toon by then :)

This weekend we participated at a contest festival, Moisekatsi Elohelü (sound of life), where we won special prize and an opportunity to give a show at Viljandi Folk Music Festival. We put our performance video up to youtube, check them out.
The tune called Noor ja Illos tütarlaps (young and beautiful girl), is old folk song from Southern Estonia and it was a mandatory tune that all the participants had to arrange. The song is about a beautiful girl whose parents died and she walking all alone in the woods, with nothing to eat and drink. Then he turns to God, and asks, what should se do. God tells her to go up to the mountain, where she will find white dress which is made of white bird feathers and which turns her in to a quiet little white bird....

And the second tune Musumaias was our free choice and is wedding dance from little island Kihnu. (expired link)

Just a little information about the country where we come from.
Estonia is a small country near Baltic sea. Our neighbor on the South side is Latvija, on the East side we have Russia and we also have over the sea neighbors: Finland on the North and Sweden on the West side. Lets take New York for example: The area of NY is 1214sq are km. And the population is 8,3 mln. Now the area of Estonia is 45227 square km, and the population is 1,3mln. So we have lot of room and fresh air here :) Just check it out on google maps.
Our traditional music is mainly folk songs and dances. We have great dance and singing festival coming up this weekend. We hold our traditions dearly. You can see the introductionvideo of our big party here: (expired link)
Did you know that the oldest music instrument in the world is mouth/voice? But we also have lots of instrumental tunes. Our national instrument is bagpipe. Also we have lots of tunes that are for jew harph.
Our band focuses on old traditions and we try to give new breathing to the old.

We are a small group of musicians from Estonia. What makes our band different, is that we never use any sheet music. Why? Because only 2 of us know, how to read them :) Our passion is old Estonian music/traditional music, but we also arrange folk tunes from other countries. Our wish is to get to studio, to record some beautiful songs. But until then, you all can listen our jam recordings.
