Jumari

About Jumari

Jumari is my stage name. It was a nickname given to me by a cousin from the Basque region of northern Spain. My actual name is Juan Mari. But when he called me Jumari for the first time I had to ask....what did you call me? And he said...Jumari, but the "J" in Spanish has an "H" sound so it was more like "Humari". I thought it was cute and that most English speaking people would be able to pronounce it. I was miserably wrong. I should call myself John Mary.

I have mostly worked as a solo singer / guitarist on cruise ships and 5 star hotels around the world...when there isn't a pandemic lurking around. I live in Alicante, Spain. I only moved here from Sydney, Australia in 2018 mainly because real estate is much more affordable. I chose Alicante because of a place called Benidorm which probably has the most amount of work for musicians and entertainers anywhere in Europe...when there is no pandemic. During the summer of 2018 I was working the Clubs and Hotels of Benidorm from June to October and then I returned to cruise ships.....until the proverbial shit hit the fan.

I have had the outrageous fortune of having worked with the best cruise lines and hotels like Hilton, Sheraton, Novotel and cruise lines like Disney Cruise Lines (DCL), Norwegian Cruise Lines (NCL), Celebrity Cruises and more than any other Princess Cruise Lines.
