About John Root

My Bio
It was the turbulent 1960s and rock music that sparked the imagination of Country/Folk Musician John Root. At age 13 John picked up the electric guitar and ignited his musical career.

Inspired by bands like the Beatles and the Monkees, He joined the folk rock group “Nobody's Children" while still in junior high school in Hartford Connecticut.
Sought after for college frat parties and other venues and too young to drive, their Moms were pressed into service for their appearances. By 1972 he joined another folk rock band, “Windmill”, playing to diverse audiences that included the Coast Guard base in New London Connecticut. By the mid-70s John took up the acoustic guitar and along with his friends and younger brother started playing more mellow songs at coffee houses. John continues to play, taking up Country Music In the early 80s inspired by country singers like Merle Haggard and Hank Williams Sr. He learned that the Mandolin Banjo and Dobro and made a pilgrimage to Nashville. He plays at coffeehouses, the “Silver Circuit” of retirement communities as well as larger venues. John Root's personality, fine voice and great acoustic guitar will want you coming back for more!
