Trombone player, and writer of music, lyrics, and stories.
A native of New York, John began his musical life as a trombone player in an award-winning high school jazz band that appeared on national television, was guest-conducted by Stan Kenton, and was invited by Leonard Bernstein to play at an outdoor summer concert at his home in Fairfield, Connecticut. He studied counterpoint with Will Johnson (Princeton/UC Berkeley), and orchestration at the University of Southern California. His original musical (book, lyrics and music) Best Laid Plans premiered at the Hermosa Beach, (CA) theater to sold-out audiences, and a year later was produced at he Beverly Hills Playhouse where it received excellent reviews in Daily Variety. Mr. Dusenberry has also written songs, for orchestra, smaller groups, piano, and chorus. His piece for orchestra Long Island Skies was performed recently by the El Camino College Symphony Orchestra.
John is a member of ASCAP.
