About Joe Meyer
Joe Meyer grew up in St Paul, Minnesota and began playing guitar when he was 12 years old. He started composing music in his late teens. A three-time songwriting finalist, Joe has released 2 CDs featuring almost entirely original songs.
Joe is definitely a working musician, having done well over a thousand live performances from Minnesota to Florida. He has done shows at the Mall of America, University of Minnesota, Itasca State Park, and the Minnesota State Fair. He has been featured numerous times on television and major radio including WCCO. And because of receiving worldwide radio airplay he currently has fans in six continents.
Joe was strongly influenced by the Beatles who seemed to reinvent themselves three or four times. As a result, his music is rather diverse. He also listened to radio stations that played a variety of genres, which contributed to this tendency. He said that at first he "felt like a guitar player who sings". Hence, his albums include some instrumentals. In fact, one of Joe’s biggest hits is an instrumental entitled “Guitar Climax”.
Although Joe started out playing electric guitar, his Gibson ES 120, he found that a lot of his favorite songs prominently featured acoustic guitar. Folk-rock artists such as James Taylor, Dan Fogelberg, Loggins & Messina, Seals & Crofts and Crosby Stills & Nash for example, eventually caused him to gravitate toward the acoustic guitar for the foundation of his songs while still adding some electric guitar solos in his recordings. Another prominent feature of Joe's music is vocal harmonies. This is not surprising considering the artists that influenced him. Like the Beatles and Beach Boys, Joe's abundant harmonies include not just 3rds and 5ths but also seventh notes.
After becoming well established as a solo performer, Joe eventually formed a band. It was first known as the Joe Meyer Band, then the Joe Meyer Finesse Band, and now as Smooth Sensation Band. More about Joe and his band can be seen at link or at the website, link.

Hello,
Thanks so much for supporting my music. I focus more on the art of creating good music than the business side of music. You may have noticed that I let you listen to all of my songs for free. So clearly, I am not the greatest businessman. So, I have a favor to ask of you. If you would go to my band’s Facebook page and ‘like’ us, (Smooth Sensation Band) it could help us to book more gigs. We would really appreciate it. Thanks!
