Good day Don You have put out another catchy tune. The lyrics...A good subject to sing about, A night alone with you... the story of wanting in every day love life. You have a voice that fits with the traditional country sound and the harmonies are great and lifts the song blending well with your voice. The melody is such a pleasant listening foot tapping one and the musicians have done their job well. I like the instrumental that breaks up the song. Once again good work and good musical journey... Nice

I like the production sound and originality. Good job!! I can feel the heart in this showing you put in some dedicated work. I like the vibe and the rhythm sound, I can dig it!!! Sounds like the studio vibe was chill and relaxed!!!!! More artist should study the roots of their culture of art more to be better at their own art. Keep up the good work and stay in the lab creating new material to stay fresh and on your toes. Peace!

A Night Alone With You

A Night Alone With you comes in on a strong two step feel with full acoustic instrumentation comping the melody of the verse. A Traditional Country Folk approach with a familiar formula chord progression, A - A - B - A. Really excellent accompaniment, no one overplays, just tasteful backups allowing the music to breathe and the story to be told. Very Good! Great backups also, singing fine harmony in time, the lead vocalist is reminiscent of Rod McKuen, Merle Haggard's early 70's material, or some of the great Canadian Folk troubadours of the 60's - 70's. I feel people are looking for this music, it is easy listening and comforting in it's appeal. I believe the lead vocalist has a stronger range than displayed here and would encourage them to hold their notes at the end of their phrasing and working the diaphragm. It would bring a little more heat to the kettle. Like The Byrds "Sweetheart at the Rodeo", album, "Pure Prarie Leauge's" seminal work, or "Van Morrison's Tupelo Honey" period. The lyrics center around infatuation, possibilities, and the question "could you also feel the same?" The lyrics are stated simply which really works for this approach. I was stymied when the question of "what would the other's think" came up. I don't believe it is necessary as there is no story as to whom the others are when you could be singing about the depth of your love interest, her eyes, the night air, was she leading you on too, what is your history together? None of these things are delved into so the passion cannot be fully expressed if the listener can't have more of a back story. Hnece, I recommend losing to townsfolk and concentrating on the couple's story completely, or maybe her parent's, would they even approve? "Wake Up Little Susie" is a song that simply brings in a a couple, a social situation, youth, and it is also hinted at in the song title. I like where you are going. Leave all the instrument and backup tracks. Take one more look at the lyrics, and give a more passionate though mellowed approach to the vocals. Marty Robbins could lay it back and slay you at the same time; maybe try going out on a rich crescendo for us listeners. This singer has all that. Just consider it. Peace -

Old school country review

Your tracks are well performed and the song is fairly well constructed. This song feels like it was written in the 1950s or the 1940s. There are many old-school clichés in the song and there are places where the chorus could be more interesting or the melody could be more sultry. This is a sultry type of song and it needs a more sultry melody in my opinion. Feels like it should be more of a ballad than an upbeat happy song about asking a woman for a night alone with her. I can tell that you worked hard on this and it has a charming appeal. I just think you may have gone the wrong direction with the melody and the idea as a whole.

A Night Alone With You review

This is a nice rolling song that has a good country track with a wonderful collection of instrumentation. Dobro, fiddle, solid acoustic guitar and a pretty well written song. The vocals carry the song nicely and if I were to suggest anything to improve this song, I would say to remix the song again and try to get a clearer and more current sounding vocal mix. This one has a little too much reverb on it for today's country. Other than that, I don't have much else to say about this song. I like it. It has a kind of pub-like feel that works well in the structure. Just work on redoing the vocal mix. Good luck moving forward and stay safe!

Cheerful Love-Song

This is a great recording from musicians who understand what good country music is about. I can hear that the band enjoying to make music together what gives the song magical moments. All instruments really stand out and the lyrics come from the heart. The chorus is the message and makes the meaning of the song engaging for me. Overall perfect work and arrangement from the composer. The song could be a radio hit and it´s an original. Listen to the song and I´m sure you will like to add it. Let others know your recommendation.

A great country classic

"A Night Alone With You" is a well written country classic. The lyrics is also a well told classic theme. It is a good recording and the instrumentation fits the genre well. It is always a matter of opinion, but personally I would have chosen another sound for the guitar track in the left channel. As it is now it sounds more like a keyboard sample than the real thing and that guitar is probably not needed in some parts either because there is a lot of other great stuff played. But WOW ! this must be material for a lot of radio channels. All the best -Kris

Cheery Beat

Great start and solid lead up to a great chorus. Incredible job with the vocals, as always. You always seem to know exactly how to carry any song you perform to a wonderful ending. It never falls short and is always a joy. Amazing stuff!

A Night Alone is tops

The country swing of A Night Alone With You is infectious and quite enjoyable. The song as performed is fine and the vocal has very a very nice country timbre. The performer asked for honest constructive comments; to that end I find that the dobro is a central characteristic to this recording and would re-mix with the dobro taking the lead intro and middle break and placing the fiddle in the back ground. All the best Don!

Night aline

Fabulous raunchy drag of a good old country fiddle a proper good old country sing fabulously designed with as many country instruments you could shake a big stick at. What a real good country male vocalist as well as tte perfectly harmonies I’d the female and male singers. Good old Dibri slide guitar too. I really lived the lovely yearning for a night with someone admired from afar off maybe just a little out of reach or out of bounds belonging to someone else, a luckier man or woman than he. Fabulous

Happy

Lovely simple lyrics and very bouncy tune. I feel there's a bit too much steel guitar in places. But that's just me. Good vocals not sure if you have Anand for backing or just recording everything yourself but the backing is good if not a little bit crowded.

A Night Alone With You - Don Smythe

Wow, very solid tune! The song is structured very well and the vocals are great. Everything fits very nicely on this tune. The strings on this play a huge roll in the appeal while listening. This is a winner! Keep this stuff coming!

A Night Alone With You

Hi Don, You have a great Country Western dance tune in this music with an accomplished ensemble of musicians. I like the old fashioned love song even in this era it is current and timeless. You have a real heart for your songs and it shows in your vocal. Beautiful fiddle and guitar harmonies, and do I detect a banjo? Lovely to hear and to dance along to especially with the theme of this song. I hope it places high in the hcarts!

A Night Alone With You

Great Job Don! I like the song, the lyrics and the arrangement. Your singing isn't half bad either!!! (Just Joking) There's been a lot written about having a night alone with someone, but this has a different approach with a much happier melody. I really like it!
