I would call our circumstances a bit more than surviving now. Physically I’m recovering from oral surgery. The worst part is the medicine I “rinse” with messing up my throat. But I’ll be done with that course soon enough. We’re still looking at the local churches here where God wants us to exercise our gifts. With past churches, mostly I have been disallowed to lead, relegated to rhythm guitar, since giving my first wife the divorce she clearly desired. Many take the stand that all divorce is a sin. This cannot be proved from scripture. Certainly, sin might be involved on the way to a divorce but in the end, it is probably a lack of forgiveness that leads to it. In any case, I take care of her, so I am following what the scriptures require. I’ll be in Ojai on Memorial Day weekend, for a memorial service for my parents, at St. Andrews Episcopal. My family will be singing We Shall Not All Sleep since it is a most appropriate passage of scripture for the occasion.
