In late December, on a visit to Caernarfon Castle which lies on the banks of the Menai Straits, I observed a magnificent and spectacular sunset which gave me the inspiration to write the music Caernarfon Bay. It is medieval times and a fanfare heralds the entry of the nobles from the castle then follows their short walk to the waters' edge there to view the sunset. A further fanfare announces the sunset reflecting on the shimmering waters of the Menai Strait. David Allum . Bangor. North Wales UK.
