Strength Of Passion

Hello and greetings, I know its been awhile since I last wrote. I spent some time at boy scout camp enjoying the outdoors with my son Samuel. It was great to get out and enjoy nature. It really clears my head and gets rid of some of the junk. It’s weird because when I came back , I had to get used to being inside after spending so much time outside. I’ve been going on this camp with my son for the last 5 years and its great to see how not only my son but all the boys mature and grow into young men. On the music front, its been slow because of this Covid-19 thing. I am slowly getting some bookings so that’s a good thing. The song I recently recorded is still waiting to be heard by a contact in the movie industry. This person has been busy in LA and hasn’t gotten back yet to KC. So I’m anxiously waiting for him to here this song. I plan on releasing a new video here pretty soon on facebook and my website. I’ve been working on a new song for the video so be sure to check out the website at www.Soaringsaxman.com or connect with me on facebook at http://www.facebook.com/davepanico or https://www.facebook.com/SoaringSaxman/ so you’ll know when the video is posted. Even though music has been slow, I have been practicing by staying with Charlie parker studies and adding new songs to my set list. So hopefully I can get out performing again. I miss it. With this covid-19 thing, I hope you have been taking the precautions and wearing your mask. The cases in the US are rising rapidly. This is a real thing and not a hoax so please do take it seriously not only for your safety but others as well. ---------------------------------------------------- Strength Of Passion ---------------------------------------------------- Passion is an interesting drive /motivator. When one is passionate about something its amazing to see the determination and drive. But passion can be a drive for the bad as well as the good. I was reading about Paul is 2 Corinthians and was captured by his passion for the gospel. To give some background, Paul had a strong passion /drive from the beginning. You see Paul used to go around persecuting Christians. The passion and drive Paul had was very strong and God saw his passion. Then one day God wanted to get Paul’s attention so God blinded him. This is in Acts chapter 9. After Paul realized what God was calling him to do , Paul then used this passion to promote the gospel and share Jesus to several areas. In 2 Corinthians chapter 11 look at what Paul went through for the sake of the gospel: 24 Five times I received from the Jews the forty lashes minus one. 25 Three times I was beaten with rods, once I was pelted with stones, three times I was shipwrecked, I spent a night and a day in the open sea, 26 I have been constantly on the move. I have been in danger from rivers, in danger from bandits, in danger from my fellow Jews, in danger from Gentiles; in danger in the city, in danger in the country, in danger at sea; and in danger from false believers. 27 I have labored and toiled and have often gone without sleep; I have known hunger and thirst and have often gone without food; I have been cold and naked. 28 Besides everything else, I face daily the pressure of my concern for all the churches. I don’t know about you but the 40 lashes would have been too much for me. Some people may say he got what he deserved for persecuting Christians. But it’s interesting what Paul says in verse 27. Instead of being bitter and wanting to get back at those who hurt him, his mind/passion is totally focused on his concern for the churches. He has a driven passion to still share the gospel despite the suffering he went through. That’s pretty amazing to me. I know he couldn’t have done it without God’s help. What are you passionate about that drives you ? Is your passion for the good of others or for self ? Thanks for the letters and the support. Please continue pray for our leaders and the medical community. Also be safe and please take precautions to keep others safe.
