VERY EDIFYING

Upon hearing this piece, I was immediately moved in my spirit and I felt the love of the savior in your delivery. My professional opinion about what I have taken into my spirit, is upon first connecting with the sound of the music, there was most definitely a positive impact that was made and with every segment of the song I was drawn into the songs atmosphere more and more. I can honestly say, that there was at no point in the song where I wanted to turn it off. The tone of the vocalist was rich and pleasing to the ear. The lyrical content was meaningful. The execution of the melodies were nice to listen to and the music complimented the lyrics and melodies, which made for a pleasant listening experience over all. My feeling about this artist is truly a five star appreciation, for taking the time to craft such a work that allows the listener to share in that moment where the hearts message connects with the passion to create and produced a heart song that us music lovers can cherish and share with other.

Better music quality

When listening to this song the first thing that stuck out to me is that is needs better quality on the music. Timing is off a little. Build the song to a climax. Other than that sounds pretty cool.

Majesty

Clothed in Majesty has great words and a nice melody. In my humble opinion the melody needs to come out a little bit to hear the words clearer. The song would be awesome to worship to and you sound like a great worship leader. In fact I don't play guitar or keyboard but I led worship for many years with great instrumentalists and singers. Keep up the great work of spreading the work of the Gospel all over the world. May God richly bless you in all you do everyday. DE

Recording needs some work

This is a bit of a mixed review. I like the message in the lyrics. The melody is fairly singable. There is some nice guitar licks throughout. I was quite distracted by the distortion pedal on the rhythm guitar. It was just too much and took away from the lyrics. The vocals were very much in the background and some of them were not recognizable. That is probably due to the poor quality of the recording, but also due to a little too much head voice singing. Some vocal coaching will help. I believe that a spiritual song is only set apart from secular songs by the lyrics. We need to to be able to understand them to get the whole message.

Worship

This song puts me in a relaxed mood. I would say that this sounds like a live recording and that is good with me because I specialize in live performance and i also have live recordings and this sounds awesome. I can feel this song because of this style of recording. You sing with passion and that's necessary for this genre of music you are into as well as the spirituality of it all. I would only suggest to continue to practice with the band if you have one and continue to fine tune the song. It's a beautiful worship song and I love it, it's simple and direct all while soothing the soul. Keep it up and don't loose sight of that.

Singable worship tune suffers from mediocre mix

The melody line of Dave Butler's "Clothed in Majesty" is accessible, straightforward, and singable, making this tune potentially a praise anthem that could be used in worship. The lead guitar solo in the break is really good. The lead vocal is sincere and heartfelt, but a little pitchy at times, and some of the vowel sounds are too flat. After the very decent opening chorus, the lead vocal drops down into the mix at the beginning of the first verse, making it difficult to understand the words. The lyrics are all-important in Christian music, because aside from the words, it's just any other music, so I would encourage you in listening to your final mix, to make sure that the words are clearly understandable, even to people who have never heard the tune before. The drums are steady, and mic'ed OK, but the groove is monotonously the same throughout the track. A turn-around between segments of the song would be helpful, and a different groove in the different sections would be a good idea. The bass line is a tad too busy, and the result is that it sounds like the bass is rushing the beat thru most of the song. To me the weakest aspect of this recording is the mix. The drums are the only instrument that sounds like it is in the room. The rest sound sort of like they are playing from the room next door. There is a faded quality to the whole sound, like a slightly overexposed photograph. Even the excellent lead guitar solo sounds like it's coming from next door, rather than front and center stage. I don't know the technicalities of mixing well enough to make many constructive suggestions, but I would suggest starting your mix by EQ'ing each instrument to sound present, then put the pieces together from there. Vocals and instrumental leads out front of the band

Inspiring

I really love the chorus on this song Clothed in majesty, high and lifted up, Savior of the world. The meolody here is very fitting for the proclamation! I had a hard time understanding the lyric in the verse/bridge so unable to comment on that. I think if the diction was improved on the verse/chorus and the recording mix was reworked (a little less distortion on the guitar etc.) this would be a 5 star song. Only my opinion and I’m a real amateur myself. God bless you Dave!

Clothed in Majesty

I think the song is good I feel that the drummer and the guitar player sometimes they where out of sync. I like the guitar solo in the middle of the song was great , then at the end there was a nice melody going on not sure if that was a guitar. I wasn’t feeling the heavy metal guitar playing the entire song. The vocals not bad just lack feeling.

Clothed In Majesty

I like the lyrics & I believe this song could become very popular, even world wide, with a few changes. I think it might sound a lot better if you don't mind me saying, if it was more acoustic, more of an unplugged, softer vibe. I find the instruments are a little too heavy, not enough variety and they sometimes compete with the lyrics. Would love to hear a softer version

Any song done for Gods glory in my opinion is awesome. If you would like my honest opinion on mix, etc. Ok .. Vocal needs to be more upfront, its buried in mix . Drums too loud and upfront. I mix drums and bass without other tracks playing, best way to get over all mix. I use youtube tutorial videos for mixing and mastering for great tips. If you are doing all the work I would suggest doing that. One of my best investments was the Rodes NT 1A mic, great inexpensive vocal and acoustic mic. We all need a good clear and professional mic and this one is amazing. Also I have the Studio Drummer software by Native Instruments. My studio is way too small for drums, and drums are the hardest to mix good. In my opinion its the biggest bang for the buck ..Hope this helps, God bless man

Hey Dave, thanks for putting the music on here. Also thanks for wanting to be critiqued. So here we go. Im going to assume you wrote the song. Nice job. So here is where it gets a little rough for me. The drummer was off coming out of the gate and then was all over the place with tempo. At least thats what it felt like. The distortion on the guitar was OK. Your voice really needed to be brought out in the mix. If your straining to hear the lyrics, then as artists we have missed the point. I was straining. The band leveled out about mid way through, the bass also had some tempo problems up front but they did finally come together. We are all works in progress, nobody ever arrives. Thanks

Nice song!

I like your song, but the only thing I would suggest is taking the bass guitar out altogether, and add a keyboard or possibly an acoustic guitar because the bass guitar is overwhelming that it actually takes away from the song. Also, I suggest that you tone the drums down, because even though the song may need some kind of drum, it seems like the drums are too loud, and a little bit overwhelming, because they seem to take away from the worshipful feeling that could really minister to people, if the drums were not so much out front. Why not consider putting in some bongo or Congo drums for a lighter touch and a softer feel? But the song is a very beautiful worship song. Thank you for your gift to the Body of Christ! You have a beautiful voice! Keep on keeping on! God bless you in your music ministry as you lift up His name. To God be all of the Glory!
