A song about evolving into someone happy....
I’m shedding off this skin you put me in
Opening up to myself and all that’s within
You’d never guess just how happy I’ve been
The wildflowers are blooming again
Its too long since I’ve held my own hand
Now I’m spinning in circles until I cannot stand dizzy with pleasure in how happy I’ve been
Its good to feel good but its better when your heart feels like its on a warm beach on a distant island with teal waters
And its good to be full but its better to be overflowing with an appreciation of all that you are and…
I’m shedding off the view you’ve skewed of me
Somehow along the way you thought it was OK to change your tone to a dark shade of grey
To engage would only confirm a vision you see
And this interaction is far beneath me
And I’ll forgive what you don’t understand, since you will never know how happy I am
Cause good to be loved, but its better to be understood, honored, appreciated, respected, supported, cared for, listened to, remembered
It’s good to be held, but its better to be squeezed tightly within the arms of admiration of someone who thinks the sun rises and sets with every breath that you make
I’m shedding off the chains that held me down
No one is around anymore but I’m still on the floor where they wanted me to be but from here I can’t see the horizon of my purpose
And it may be hard to stand but its harder to keep falling over myself but this resurrection of heat the fire will lift me up over the waters that I would otherwise drown in, but not today
Cause its good to be achieve but its better when you’re carried away by your ambitions and talents, whims, cravings, longings, dreams and moments in between
Cause its good to be free, but its better when your attached to a purpose that gives you a reason to get out of bed every morning you’re gifted to rise

Hi everyone,
It's been a while since I have been on here and a while since i was inspired to write anything new. Things are maintaining for me at the moment. Been on lock down now since March and probably will be for a few more weeks. After moving North, I had to focus on getting settled down and got a little uprooted from doing music not being in the scene as I was down in Long Beach.
I released a new album in 2018 called "From A Hill", which is actually an old album, or rather has lots of my first songs I ever wrote and recorded on it, many of them solo acoustic and is my favorite album to date. It's up on Spotify and iTunes now if anyone wanted to check it out. I'm learning over time that while I enjoy performing with others, when it comes to recording, I really like keeping my songs simple and not over produced. I feel like you get the real me, unfancified (my new word of the day).
Recently, I was messing on my guitar and came up with a tune pretty quickly, which I call "Doin' Fine". Lots of people are writing motivational and upbeat songs about whats currently going on, trying to help people feel better. I'm of a little different mindset when it comes to my songwriting... I don't think too much about what message I want to send, but rather document whats going on in my life and hopefully you can connect. I recently asked a friend how they were doing through all this now and they said they were "doin' fine" when clearly they weren't. It's ok to not have the best days and you don't always have to show a strong face, trust me, in that you aren't alone.
Anyway, without further ado, after a long time, please enjoy my latest song called "Doin' Fine". The guitar and vocals went through my amp and was recorded using my cell phone. We are high tech over here. Still though, don't sound too shabby. Hope you all enjoy and thank you all so much for coming on my little journey with me. Sending you all much love and best wishes during these uncertain times.
Big hugs,
Jess
