About BLAKZUBA

BLAKZUBA is a rapper from Mpumalanga province; he grew up in two small towns Volksrust and Perdekop. Completed his matric in 2004 at Boitumelong Senior Secondary School, and currently stays in Tembisa 1632.
Blakzuba's birth name is Mthokozisi Sidney Nkosi. Mthokozisi` s performing name ((expired link). BLAKZUBA) goes back to his schooldays when he was rapping in his classroom for his classmates and his high school friend Sifiso Shepherd Vilakazi who stays in Tembisa, Ecaleni section (khalambazo) nicknamed him Zuba because of his white complexion skin as zuba in Tembisa back in the days meant “white person”. Mthokozisi later on in 2003 added the BLAK to the name and that’s how it ended up being BLAKZUBA which means Mlung`omnyama (white black person).
Blakzuba started writing his own songs in 2000 when he was in grade 8, he rapped his first verse for his friend, and his friend liked it and from there he continued to write more and more until he mastered his flow and skill of Zulu vernacular rap with a tsotsitaal feel and a mixture of English.
