About Barry E. Fry

I first picked up my Mom's National Hawaiian Dobro guitar at 8 years of age. A family friend converted it from a lap steel to a traditional Spanish guitar. I played in rock bands throughout high school and continued at Lebanon Valley College playing in their jazz band all four years. After college, I joined a lounge and show group playing 6 nights a week, booking out of Harrisburg, PA. After that I had various gigs on the lounge/ show circuit including a stint with a club house band for almost two years. I am still playing guitar with two local well-known big bands along filling in on guitar and bass with other groups and my solo work.

Thanks for Subscribing to my N1M Network

Hello to all who have subscribed to my newsletter. I apologize for not getting this out sooner, but here it finally is!. I explained that I am playing in 2 big bands (19 and 22 piece) so I am just part of the rhythm section as the guitar player with the occasional solo. A few years back I started a solo career, mostly to play solo jazz guitar in restaurants, at cocktail hours, etc. From there I did a number of demo recordings to showcase my work. Many of which I posted here on N1M. I am grateful for the many encouraging comments from all around the world. I am humbled. Everyone has been very kind and supportive. It just proves that music is the universal language. I will keep posting some of my earlier work in addition to new recordings. I also have many photos from various bands, (some of me also playing bass). Anyway, thank you for your support. Stay safe.

Musically yours,

Barry E. Fry

To My N1M Subscribers

Hello and thank you for joining my network. I have been planning new material to post, but I also want to mention, that besides being a solo artist, I have played in quite a few bands as a guitar player, including two big bands (19 and 22 pieces). I get an occasional solo, but mostly I'm part of the rhythm section. Like I said in my bio, I played in my college jazz band all 4 years and that's where I first appreciated big bands. From there, I also had a chance to play guitar in the pit orchestra for various musical productions of "Blood Brothers", "How to Succeed in Business Without Trying", "Footloose", and "Sound of Music". Anyway, playing guitar has afforded me the opportunity to meet and play with many great people over the years. I want to thank everyone again! Stay safe.

Musically yours,
Barry E. Fry
