The town referenced in Anthony Walker's snappy "My Town" is Detroit, if the name of his record label (Detroit City) is to be believed, that is. In light of that city's long and storied musical history, listeners might be forgiven for expecting something in the R&B/pop vein, a la Motown, or raucous punk a la Iggy Pop, or even, if your memory reaches back far enough, the 1960's country croonings of Bobby Bare. In this case, however, their expectations would not be met, they'd be subverted, for in this outing, singer/songwriter Walker serves up a musical rendition of the Motor City as it might be if seen through the eyes of Fleetwood Mac, and yes, I mean the hot and rocking FM of the '70's we all know and love, featuring Mick, John, Christie, Lindsay and Stevie. Although his vocals are a teensy bit too far back in the mix for my taste, Walker's voice gets the job done, nonetheless, providing a lilting and lush counterpoint to the mellifluously crunchy backing tracks, all in all breaking through the dim and gritty image we've all come to entertain regarding a once vital and thriving metropolis. With spokespeople like Anthony Walker spreading the news, who knows, Detroit's fortunes may soon be looking up.

MY TOWN review. this is a strictly Rock piece in the highest sense of the word. everything sounds in Rock style as I said everything recalls the Rock genre. personally it is not my favorite genre but I can give you a musical judgment that is certainly positive because all that there must be in a Rock piece in your piece is therefore complimented and continues. good job

MY REVIEW

"Anthony Walker" has sent me a request to review their song "MY TOWN". Sometimes, I will find out later that the artist never sent a request to be reviewed and that Number One Music has sent out an algorithm. Please do not take this offensively, for it is only my opinion. I once sent in a CD to a review/song placement company "Taxi". The reviewer replied back "To many cliche's". With that being written, I'm hearing U2, Boston, Super Tramp, Fleetwood Mac which isn't a bad thing! When viewing your total plays, this format seems to be working. Good recording, good harmonies, good song. Rock on.

My Kinda Town!

Nice intro! Once the vocals come in, it sounds like an old Supertramp song. If that is what you are going for, then good! It is a really upbeat song that keeps it interesting. Musically, it sounds good. If there was one thing you could definitely improve, it is the vocals. Indeed, they are too laid back in the mix. All instruments are louder than the lead, making the lead sound like back vocals more than an actual lead. Bring the vocals forward a bit more in the mix, make them a little louder and play with the EQ a bit to add a tiny little bit of treble and reverb to help! It would already make a huge difference! Keep it up!

I Love Big Productions, & This Is That. I Can See The Stage Full Of Performers. This Is The Big Opening Act Of A Broadway Production. Well Done From Start To Finish. Everyone Involved Should Give Themselves, A Pat On The Back.I Give This A 4.9. I Think That's The Most I Have Ever Given.

I was looking for a song to review tonight and your song stuck out to me. It's catchy and it's a fun sounding song. I love the playing on this track. All of the instruments sound great! Everything seems to be solid about this track. The guitar solo sticks out to me because it wasn't over played it was just a sweet little solo that was well executed. So the only thing I would suggest is the lead vocal be a little louder it seems as though the guitar is drowning out the vocal and trying to understand words is a little difficult because it's just not clear enough. I honestly think just a little louder of the lead vocal and this song would be perfect in my world.

Own It

One of the things I enjoy most about Number One Music artists is the newfound ability to hear music from around the world by singers who I'd never have the chance to listen to otherwise. That, in itself, is a great thing. With this song, it's listed as rock, R&B and funk - and I think that's too many. But the production is fun, worthy of listening to again. And pleasantly, the vocals here are a complete joy. Make more. This is my first 5* review of '19. NICE.

First off the music is done really well. Tracked well and mixed well. I think the music itself it pretty top shelf for this style of music. Now the tricky part. The vocals are not mixed or equalized in the proper manner. What I can hear I think needs work. Lyrics need some restructuring and definitely needs better vocal takes. I fell like vocals done properly and a little promotion and this could be a hit in certain crowds.

Slick, Well Produced Pop/Rock

It is difficult for me to find fault with this song. It has all the ingredients to make the ideal song. The only aspect of this song I don't like is the guitar solo. the ideal guitar solo should be like a mini song in itself but the guitar solo in this song just seems like a jumble of random notes. It has no tune or melody. Apart from the guitar solo, keep up the good work.

The opening in the starting point for special. Lyrics come in and the smooth funky stuff you put down makes people want to find this town. Excellent job. Professional job. Thanks Magic Star

Sweet full intro, Nice lush sound, love the organ and piano providing the backdrop. Lots of hooks that carry the tune to a poppy and airy chorus, filled with identifiable melodies. Sweet harmonies and positive lyrics provide the story. Surprising and very original bridge leading into just enough a guitar solo to take you back to that singalong chorus that we can all relate to. Overall a good song, well written, crafty and smooth sounding, even some room for a sax solo outro. If the rest of your album sounds anything like this, then you have a good solid record on your hands. Probably a lot of fun to play live as well, I can imagine this music working well at an outdoor festival, Best of Luck!

This song is very well crafted or composed. The mix of instrumentation and vocals is very well put together. Very unique up beat song. The vocal harmonies are excellent! The beginning of song reminds me of Dear Prudence by the Beatles which happens to be a favorite song of mine. The drums and the bass hold the foundation of the entire song together which is imperative on a song such as this. Very radio friendly song. Nice production overall. May your music go far in this huge spectrum of music we live in.
