A review by Artey Williams for Zap & The Wires

A review by Artey Williams for Zap & The Wires singing "That Was Then" Wow very fifties opening bass riff very authentic and a very inviting lazy Fender Strat tremolo giving the tease to the drummer and the very lovely female vocal giving it large and with attitude suggested by the lyrics, she aint messing guys, no more missy nice gal that you thought she once was. Things are setting up to be very different. Great tightness all the way through really fabulous production, audio engineered perfectly and compiled and performed by a super competent band. Loved it everyone

That Was Then

As always your instrumentals are danceable and your song lyrics are ver relatable. I enjoy the combination very much. This song reminds me of many too little, too late songs about lost love. The vocal talent has a lovely edge to her voice singing with her soul afire. Keep the hits coming sine I am sure your fans want to hear more!

Solid craftsmanship

A nice piece of country style Rock'n'Roll, with a characteristic and often repeated guitar riff. Well produced. Lots of lyrics in the verses, a bit hard to tell the difference between verse and chorus. I would have liked some more (short) instrumental parts, even if that would have exceeded the 03:30-dogma of airplay suitable songs. The drums sound a bit artificial, but I like the voice of the lead vocalist. Probably a good live song!

Vibes!

I like the originality of your work. Strong message and creativity is a big plus. Good production, I can hear some good vocals to this, good job on the final mix-down. I can tell you have your heart and soul into what you do. Keep on pushing and never give up or get distracted in pursuing the dream of making it. I like the instrumental blend of sounds with some vocals and the production on the track is good. Keep up the great work! Peace!!!

Great Song koordiniert

Well i would like to tell you that i like xour song all in all. What is special youre verses are all individual ,only little nuances and very "small" changes in the melody, but i like this very much. Then in the Chorus its liekit should be in a good composed pop song: The SUN IS SHINING WITH ITS FULL POWER! Really cool ! Okay thats i want to tell you about your song and i hope you can deal with it ;). Many grettings from northern germany, Judith M, Schwerin, Germany

partenza rock boogie

Hello again folks and thanks for the kind invite to review your Country Song "THAT WAS THEN" which may i say i found in my personal music opinion to be very strong country song with great guitar playing and suburb vocals, the melody and lyrics are both very catchy and the production and recording was produced to a very professional standard and is a very radio friendly track that should gain lots of airplay for you and increase your download sales.

Nice country song

Nice melody. This song is epic in verses. She has a good voice and stays in tune on every verse. The solo on the guitar was really good and could have been longer. I give your song two thumbs up!

That Was Then review

This is kind of a fun song. Of course, by today's standards, it would not appeal to the staunch country publishers that expect it to fall into their strict format that is currently controlling that market. But it is a cool little groove. If you wanted to make it a bit more marketable, I'd suggest throwing in a descriptive pre-chorus and then build a stronger, memorable chorus. This sounds almost like I'm saying to rewrite the song, but that is what you would probably be told, were this to be shopped. If you are simply playing this live at one of your gigs, more power to you. Enjoy the fun of it. You just wouldn't find most of Nashville to give you much time with it's format. Keep writing though. I've enjoyed several of your songs.

my thoughts

Thanks for sharing this little diddy. I really like it. I wish I could of mixed it. The mix NEEDS to be hotter. Your voice? I like it a lot.. I wish it was a little hotter and out front more. The band is good and I like groove they found for this song. The drums and bass are in the pocket. Thanks again and MUCH success to you and boys in the band. GREAT JOB
