[South of Sanity] July Notes...
Hey there, Legion of loyal Fans! As many of you know, the band South of Sanity broke up more than ten years ago. It is an honor, and honestly humbling to see that our music still speaks to people today. The comments and messages you have sent over the years have sometimes left with tears in my eyes. Thank you. Really, you continue to bless me. With that in mind I decided to post something here about a project that might interest some of you. We've been pulling together as comprehensive a collection of my music as we can find in order to preserve music that would likely be lost to the Nether. This will be a compilation album that pulls together music from more than ten years of playing in various bands, and from several genres, as well as my solo work.
Music from:
• Eagle Wing band (70's style jam band)
• Priest of Praise (Southern rock blues)
• Broken no.5 (Pop rock/rap)
• Killer of Giants (Alternative)
• South of Sanity (Southern Grunge)
• S.o.S. (Prog Rock)
• Shuddervail (Prog/Metal)
• Dark Redemption (Experimental Folk Acoustic)
I have always written the music for every band I've played in and so the idea was to gather up all the surviving examples of that music and put them together on one album. To be honest this is a pet project I started almost entirely for my own enjoyment, finding old deep cut songs I hadn't heard in twenty years, and just for the knowledge that my music would simply disappear. But as it progressed it has occurred to me that some other people might actually ENJOY some if this. Much of these songs were from local and regional bands and in the early web and pre-YouTube era, never really had much of a chance to be heard outside of smokey clubs and limited Merch table sales. What did we do before the internet? LoL. The Title of this forthcoming compilation album is,

Five Feathers For Friday
Two Decades of Music
(Gotta call it something ;-) right?)
The original intent of this project wasn't to make a ton of money; in fact, I didn't even think about making money at the time, and so after careful thought we've decided to put the whole thing out there for less than ten bucks. There should be forty or fifty tracks for your listening pleasure. I want to be very clear though, the original intent was a personal one, and that was to collect ALL of my early music. There are, of course, the studio produced albums, EPs, Demo CDs and radio singles, But much of those early recordings are not the greatest quality, Live shows, deep cuts, practice recordings and random jams. There's lot of good music, but it’s not intended as a press and play album. Rather for the person who enjoys stumbling over rough gems. There are several radically different versions of classic South if sanity songs you might already know, and, I hope, some new songs that you will be rocking to for years to come. So that's it, thanks for taking the time follow along, and please contact us if you are interested in this album when it comes out in October. Thanks again and have a blessed day.
Since you've read to the end, I wanted to give you a link to our Big Mama's Battle of the Bands performance of Songs of Redemption from 2009... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2BF14WBmtE
