Interesting History Newsletter Greetings Earthlings... Anyone for Choc Chip biccies? "Cuppa with that Darlin' please!" So some true history about where we live:- Fifty years ago Brookside flats used to be a water mill, it's built by the confluence of two rivers here (The Wych and The Wye) and next to the Boundary road recreation area which was known to locals as 'The Swooning Ground' where young lovers used to fraternize, adjacent to this building just over the footbridge. It was told that a young couple were in love and a terrible accident happened at the mill on a night of romance and the boyfriend died in the works of the mill during a night of passion. My home is built on the site of the mill. I've lived here for 25 years and there has been a lot of poltergeist activity to say the least, it's been pretty freaky! Saint Peter's church is just over the way and there is an old gravestone outside the porch of the church entrance with the name 'John Cook' etched into it, he was the Station Master at the railway line that used to run behind the church and pub which doesn't exist anymore. The spooky and intriguing thing is that my name is 'John Cook' and I found the gravestone one day only yards from my home, at the local church, with my name on it, and did some research ("STROOTH!").
