Nice Memories

I love the electric organ on modern music - I think it's a lost gift to music when musicians include this in their songs. Evokes classic rock of the 1960's and 1970's. Kinda a little bit Electric Light Orchestra meets Tom Petty. I wouldn't really consider this a rock and roll song, as it's listed here, but it would fit with the category given a catalogue of work. Song is well produced.

One of the best songs I've listened to on here

It reminds me of something but I can't put my finger on it. Maybe it's Gerry Rafferty, but whatever it is it's a very catchy tune with some lovely chord progressions and nice vocal melody. I listened to it several times so I could get the lyrics too which are sometimes hard to discern, or maybe I'm just becoming deaf! I'd certainly like to see the lyrics if at all possible so please share them Gary because I really like your song.

Well performed song

This is a well performed song and is a very interesting listen. I particularly liked the guitar work and the effect which was used . The harmonica was nice in the ambience of the song. The vocals are warm and relaxing on the ear and the lyrics are pretty good too. If I was to be critical I would say it just could do with a few more colours to the song maybe some drums. But it is nice also quite raw like it is

recall to the conscious mind...

Gary Jones brings us Evoking Memories, a progressive tapestry displaying my old friends the 12 string guitar and what sounds like a kimble or yamaha electric piano with a touch of harmonica. From the listeners perspective this song definitely takes you on a journey of the mind. From a producer's perspective there are a couple of the beginning vocal lines that in my opinion were a touch flat and and there was a little unevenness in the intensity. A little compression could easily tighten that up. The other two issues I had were with the intensity build up of the song. I felt it should have cut into a full stage break once into the 2nd verse to ramp up the energy of the song. The last critique is that this song should have be taken through the full mastering process to help bring out those subtle highlights that can truly transform the energy of a song. These critiques may sound harsh, but its only due to my awaiting the song to reach its full potential and it fell short.

Congratulations! A very good song to listen to. The peace and tranquility that it passes is indescribable. All this accompanied by a mild climate and a vocal well arranged. The guitar is a musical based on keeping all the harmony of music. The harmonica touches are subtle but striking. The song is very good, as well as harmony it has its own identity, that is, is a song that does not look like anything we're used to hearing.

Talented singer songwriter Gary Jones brings this track in with an honest reflective message. This one has a nice combination of alternative rock with country and even Americana adorned with harmonica and some nice chromatic harmonic movement. The story is simple but compelling. Stylictically this could be well accepted by guitar driven singer songwriter radio stations as well as coffee house types and live venues to suit. I look forward to hearing more from Gary Jones.

Excellent song. Great melody and vibe. I'm impressed with this song because it has a dreamy feel to it. It is like I can daydream about memories of the past and feel them in the present. Thank you Gary for your song.

an interesting song concept, fundamentally a great track but for me the vocal needs to be re-worked. I love the interesting music and the arrangement, although simple with few instruments and a delicate and relatively quiet feel, it gives a relaxing and calm sense. Just a few minor points that I would look at but overall an interesting piece. It seems maybe alike a work in progress.

Cool song. I like the vocals. Very nice voice. Drums would make this song much better. There were a couple of times where there was some hesitation, like right before it switched from the verse to the other part. I like the other part. It changes the song up nicely. Keep making music. I would definitely look for a drummer and bass player though.

I initially enjoy the verse progression. A rather melancholy tune but rather suiting to the title. The change is subtle and well written, I can't help but feel that song could use some drums. There were a couple spots where I expected them to come in, but that may not be what he was going for. The Harmonica was a nice touch. Reminds me of Time by Big Wreck.

Nice music to listen to.

I like the dry recording of your voice with just a little reverb on it. If you mix the vocals a little bit louder in the verses they will be better in the mix with the music. The music sounds great and the music makes me keep listening to the song. Overall it's a nice song to listen to.

This is a good well written song , Great vocals and well recorded , The only negative thing I can say about this song is it seems a bit busy from the very start, cross rhythms on the instruments seem to blur each other out . It's hard to pick out what each instrument is doing I personally think it would work better Starting with vocals and acoustic guitar And then building it up from there . I also think a shaker / tambourine would help to stop the backing getting messy as more instruments are added.. But on the whole it's a good song with a great clear vocal. And melodic melody lines. I wish you all the best for the furture :-)

"Spooky, mysterious acoustic rock as powerful as the great Nick Drake"

Helpful

Really enjoying the spooky, mysterious sounds of the chorus in this songs, very similar in melody and mood to the late great Nick Drake. Great work on the guitar and other instruments, (seemingly hearing a harmonica). Feels somber and soft, soothing and calming, great work by a talented singer/songwriter. Also similar in feel to Led Zeppilen's acoustic work.
