Strange New Dawn review

Some dark music that has a lot of feeling and talent. I really enjoyed this and will be waiting for more. Please let me know when you get something else out. I'll be waiting for it and will be sharing and recommending. Awesome!

Fragmented pillar of ambition

Helpful

When I first saw the running time I thought "Well, this is ambitious." But I like long songs. So, the song kicks off quite calmly with atmospheric guitars and a Tate-ish vocal. The song then moves into a more heavy section that set a new pace. Then back into atmospheric mood. And so on. And that is sort of the structure. It's constantly changing. Perhaps this is more of an audio construct as opposed to the traditional song structure? The elements are all nice and melodic, however I struggle somewhat to find The Red Thread throughout the song. It gets a bit too fragmented. Perhaps it is the transitions (or lack of) between each segment...? It feels a bit like an album teaser or perhaps a song consisting of chapters. I didn't follow the lyrics too closely, but I'm suspecting there is a developing story here with a matching sections to each chapter. Enough about that. I have mentioned the vocal. They're rock solid and very centered. A nice tone & texture and strong pitch control that carries the song. It is not an instrument driven or a virtuoso song (as it is labeled Progressive Metal) but the instruments are treated skillfully enough. The mix is very open. One could perhaps even say stripped. Some layering here and there but I feel that is more as a atmospheric effect than to build a massive orchestration. Not sure where these guys finds their inspiration but I pick up both Blue Oyster Cult, My Dying Bride, Opeth and perhaps even some Motorpsycho. It is a massive undertaking to create a 21:42 song. I feel as they... almost nail it! My main critique is the transitions between each section and I'd like them to take each segment a bit further; heavy sections heavier (like the end) and the softer/eerier parts even more so. But the main thing I liked it. Even if I'm left with a feeling of having heard through an EP than a single song. But this is a song that you should LISTEN to. Not only hear in the background. And who says as song has to be 03:30 anyways?

Doom n Gloom

This track is very moody and gothic. its like Opeth & Type O Negative had a love child. It goes to sad doom and gloom to happy then back to gloom and doom. Its push and pull till the very end for 21 Min & 42 Sec. Definitely good music for people who like underground music. As for Mainstreamers this is not for you sick tasteless ass holes . I give this track a 5 out of 5 for its melon collie

Rhapsody for a Ghost

Then, I heard the entire song. No words to express what is dedicated, not to the mortal world, but to the death and his falling into the deeper. Or the everlasting voyage of a lost ship. Just because vocals seem touch the eternity, and the instrumental background apraching the sense of caducity of the world. Nevertheless, is not like this. It is not a song with a tune dancing in the dark sound but the clear shine of the spirit inside music. Non technical words for a song that don´t need critics.

Your Song "Strange New Dawn"

The intro is real cool with a sort of creepiness edge with a Type O Feel on the music part and has a vibrant style that brings you into a dark place with candles burning at both ends plus this song has an array of multi musical sounds that grab you and pull you deeper into the the pits and with the song being a super long track make it even more exotic with different feels that tells a story of its own kind. Metal Opera

This is a great tune who deserves the right to be played in a whole metal opera in the pure tradition of Avantasia. Quite a long track but in my opinion, it must be seen as a narrated story, driven by tense and loose musical moments, in the typical flavours of the genre and it has got the attitude to go with it. Intro might be a bit too long but this song is a travel and it needs to be properly introduced. Cheers from Limoges, France !

Atmospheric hard rock

This is decent hard rock .It takes a little to long to develop it's story . The singer has a deep tonality kinda reminds me of jeoff Tate and iggy pop. The music is reminiscent of early Metallica especially the clean tone. Give it a listen and see for yourselves.

06 The Only One part 2review. this song is a strictly Metal piece in the highest sense of the word. everything sounds in Metal style as I said everything recalls the Metal genre. personally it is not my favorite genre but I can give you a musical judgment that is certainly positive because all that there must be in a Metal piece in your piece is therefore complimented and continues. good job

i'am not the only one

Interesting to make his long piece of music. Really nice idea. The beginning sound o... okey, but later on I lost my attention. I'd listen to all of these parts and hear, there is so much to do to make it better. First of all, the musical part and especially the easiest parts sounds doll and to long. I don't hear, like here's something happening, something never heard before and what I notice is that you use a lot of reverb and delay (and it's not really on the beat) to mask it. The vocals exactly the same thing, added to that, the lyric sounds contentless. It doesn't matter if it's simple, but give it more... how should i say this, like you really have a massage to push it through my throat. That would make me happy. The transitions should also be more in line with the music and shorter. You have ideas and that's a good thing, but it does not really comes out. Work hard on it, analyze it and change it constantly.

Track Review

Great production on this very long dramatic track. The vocals have a Queensrychish style to them that today's fans find to be dated and unappealing. Much is spent on emotion and dramatics on this track than instrumentation or creativity. This causing it to become boring, repetitive and much too drug out in length. A very gothic sounding track that takes a lot of time but never really goes anywhere.

Oh, this is nice!

I really like the beginning as the guitarist walks me through a lonely almost ghostly path. Then when you introduce me to the vocals I fall in love immediately with his voice. The transition in the middle was a bit awkward but as the ship without sails kicked in I was put back on track. Then the single note double picking started at the second transition and I find myself feeling confused again. I think that is the point, as the who are you lyrics started. I still love the passion of the vocals. I really dig these lyrics in the middle of this song! You should post them. At the slow picking transition 3 I'm finally used to it and expecting it. It kinda grows on ya and fits well with the song. Overall you did a good job!

It's A Strange New Dawn The Only one part 2

It's A Strange New Dawn The Only one part 2...Loved the very soothing dynamic intro to this song entitled The Only one part 2 soft hypnotic guitar playing throughout sounding like a little Pink Floyd influence to my ears enjoyed that very much...Vocal delivery is very powerful throughout and the keyboard effects if that's what i'm hearing is very tasteful and complements the guitar drums and vocals perfectly....a very tasteful solo from the guitar department def reminds me og David Gilmour and works well with the keyboards in this song.....the song tells a story and It also has a Manowar kind of vibe to it with the powerful vocals and even some Armoured Saint in there also, these are bands i'm thinking of while listening to this track and this is only the second song I have had the pleasure of listening to....this band should be at the top of their genre..if they are not already, they are absolutely for sure a true Progressive heavy metal band their album should be played from the start right through to allow the listener to get their own personal vision of what the song means to the listener. A very talented inspiring band, A pleasure to listen to guys....Pauly Co-founder Firststrike USA
