Living in the Dark Shadows

Gotta say that this tune really invokes my dark side. Its a weird thing to say but it really speaks to me. Being a former resident for Colorado, its great to hear some really good tunes from the underground. Especially when they speak to you. Keep it up SG.

Your Song "DarkShadows"

I like the Dark intro and etxro and didn't know exactly where the song was leading to but I can say the vocals stood out for the most part with very interesting rhythms and with the drums being in the background of the recording and with no lead guitar but hey sometimes Less is More. Nice Vocals and story telling line on the lyrics which in my opinion is more on the Goth side of music than metal. Write On~~~

Standing in DarkShadows \m/*-*\m/

Today we will be looking at SouthernGothic's "DarkShadows" The track starts out innocuously enough with quasi horror/sci fi themed audio clip. I liked how I wasn't sure 100% in which direction the song was going to go. The best I can say is that the music is a cross between early The Cult and rockabilly. I actually really enjoyed the song. There is lots here to like. The simplified guitar line and effects adds a cool atmosphere to the song. Vocally the singer does a good job both lyrically and with his choice of vocal melodies, the song slithers along like a Rattler giving it a dark and ominous feel. This is a great track, comfortable yet expressive. I look forward to hearing more of SouthernGothic's music here on NumberOneMusic :) Christopher Carrion XXX

Rocky Fun Dark Shadows

Helpful

Starting off with the theme form the classic 1960's tv soap Dark Shadows sets the tone for this fun rock song. As the predecessor to the popular modern era Twilight series, this dark romantic theme is a compelling and even though unusual, is quite interesting. Southern Gothic's artistic and confident version here is nice and very enjoyable. If you enjoy a classic rocky track with a nice local and unique approach, this may well be for you. I can see this getting some airily on rock and modern rock radio stations. Nice work amor the singer and musicians alike. I look forward to hearing more from this talented artist.

Solid song...

The recording of this song "dark shadows" is really not the best, I think there´s much room for improvement! there´s way too much compression on the mix, it pumps pretty much and thats annoying. the song is not bad, a solid composition, well played. when you work on your recording procedure and give your songs the right sound and mix, it could be very helpful for you as band and for us as listeners ;)

Great NWOBHM/Goth mash-up!

I enjoyed this very much! Interesting mix of New Wave Of British Heavy Metal and early 80's Goth. I think you guys can really do some interesting things if you keep in this direction. Love the riffs with the goth atmosphere! Very original! Cheers!

Dark Shadows by SouthernGothic

This reminds me of Type O Negative mixed with The Cult & White Zombie/Rob Zombie and so many other bands that I cant name from the top of my head right now. I like the song but I wished it was produced better though. I like old school twilight zone sounding stuff at beginning and the end of the track. Its a song worth listening too.

Congrats!!!

Congratulations! A very good song to listen to. The energy she spends is indescribable. All this accompanied by a very dark rock rhythm and vocal well arranged. The guitar is a musical based on keeping all the music expression. The song is very good, as well as harmony it has its own identity, that is, is a song that does not look like any other. A very good battery and a sensational dynamics.

Trip into the grim lands

The song starts with a horror movie like soundscape creating a macabre atmosphere. When the actual music starts you realize that the music is the good part of that horror movie. The voice reminds me of the old Solitude Aeturnus songs. A good song!

darkshadows review

the song starts with an intro in the vein of horror movies. then the song starts. it got a live-ish sound to it. a nice melody in the song. the song ends with the horror theme. give it a listen, you might like it or not.

Pretty good

It doesn't remind me a typical genre. Nice guitar tune in that song , but something in the sound seems old and not in an high quality. Anyway potentially a good song. Pay attention a the vocal, seems so far in the mix. Greetings from Italy!

Totally Gothic, Very dark Guitars Set the tone nice drumline , and a kool bass.. awesome. The quality needs a lot of improvement, Maybe take it to a proper studio to be mixed(Assuming U have all the tracks To The Song), Vocals were behind the music and Needs to be more Present....Great concept and Idea...take it to the next level

Like the title says, Dark Shadows is a somewhat dark song, but there's light a the end of the tunnel... More metal than a goth song in my opinion, i like the vibe of the main guitar's riff, it's catchy and installs the song's main hook... As an engineer, i notice the drums are not quite clear to my taste, and somewhat hiding in the back, also that the overall mix is lacking top end, definition if i may say... As an arranger, the first thing that came to my attention, is the ABABAB song construction, aside from the intro and outro... A bridge part, or a chorus, moving away from the verses, would sustain the listener's attention... Keep up the great songwriting...
