I'm doing my best to get some new content up here. I have a few songs, if I can get good live versions of them, I'll put 'em up here. That should happen soon enough. Meanwhile, here's one of my greatest studio failures. It has some really great mandolin and other things and some truly awful lyrics. I did it with Paul Setser and we programed a bunch of stuff. There's a clip of me saying "whadda ya" like I was Popeye or something, that repeats. I'll get the lyrics up in a week or so.

I Mean, You Know... It's Spring Already
Hey, Number 1 Musicians! I been doing my thing. I gotta get things ready, if I'mona take it on-stage. I'm doing that. The plan is to record some live performances and put up the vids. Cuts a few new tunes out of that for N1M. Put the vids up here and at YouTube.
That is in process. Meanwhile, we're scratching around the bottom of my barrel with some interesting tacks from the 90s, in my book. A live, studio combo track I'll talk about another time. I've attached the studio version (without the foul language) to this newsletter. Please listen. My stuff is not for everybody. I hope it's interesting enough for a listen. There's also a silly track called Cuzyme (the rustle). It's short and silly and fun. It references Ron Turner at the end, because it's pretty much his fault any of this material got made.
There's a great new Voot Track up that should become everyone's new favorite. It is mine. It's called: "Too Bad". Be back soon to promote that live gig recording. Bye cool cats and kitties!

Being An Update On The Fortunes Of Luv
Do I have to include everything on every post? Pictures, etc? I can't tell, so I do.
This is one of those, "I'm so busy" jeremiads. I wanted everyone to know I listen to a lot of tracks here. What a bunch of great artists. I follow back. I doubt I've kept up. I look for the Networker insignia. I just pop in and share whoever is at the top of the notification list. I really appreciate being part of a community of music makers. As COVID winds down, I will have less time to interact at link.
I will be setting up gigs and recording them, then posting those vids here. That will leave me less time to maintain this page, but I will be back very frequently. Just less-ish probably. For a minute. FYI Peace!

I'm Having Audio Issues
I'm trying to get a listenable version of this song uploaded. It was originally titled Islam Online. I changed that title, b/c I don't want to offend anyone. It only refers to the song's narrative perspective considering blissful online spirituality to escape a broken heart. The version with good vocals is taken from a cassette and it's not great quality. The nice studio version, I recorded some crappy back-ups over.
But the audio quality is much better on the crappy vocals version, so I'm putting it up, as well. I'm attaching it to this update. Maybe, I'll get an optimal version together yet. This song was recorded by Jeff somebody at his studio with Al Weatherhead dialing the knobs and playing the drums. Tim Buckley backs up the vocals and plays guitar. John somebody plays an out of tune bass on this song and Mary Woronov. I prefer Al's mix and I keep trying to get a good version of his mix up.
I think the better audio version was mixed by Bill Stace. I'll keep searching for a good version of Al's, b/c I think people will like it.

How Much Content Do You People Think I Have?
I only have a few more of this rustle of luv catalog to post. This live track is, as we say in technical parlance: "iffy". Not Great. A live rehearsal recording? There's no other way to hear this song and it's passable. Think of it as a record of an era. that era being sometime in the late 90s at rehearsal with Michele Strader playing Bass. I don't know if anyone else is there.
I wrote some text in the formulating of the newsletter and I don't know where it is now, so I'm not sure how much of all that I should retype, here. We have a little more content left, of questionable quality, with great contributions by talented musicians doing their best with my naive material. I think what's most interesting about my genre-less music, is its uniqueness. This is the only place you will find rustle music.
After this and a few more, I'll have to make some new ones. I've been toying with the idea of Revolting Lab Monkeys. If you read these, I thank you. I write to be read. Peace to the Out!

The Things We Do For Luv
As you can see, I'm hosting Milwaukee Trash Music Legend: Voot Warnings. We've put up two songs from his CD "Platinum" (Betrayal / Sampson-Bruce) and we'll put up two from his other CD "You Owe Me Ten Bucks", which was the price of the CD, get it? Remember when CDs mattered?
We used to have a project called Free Luv where we'd make CDs at home and then just leave them around in coffee shops for people to find and take home. We made little booklets and album covers. All the pictures are in the images section at this website. I went into a bar, one time in the 2010s to leave our little art project and no one wanted it. They just didn't want CDs anymore. We stopped doing that project.
All that content is up here now, for free. All that artwork. You can go buy it, if you want. Or any of this other stuff. Or just look at the pictures. I think they're interesting, just as creative work.
We have a few more David LaChance audio-dramas to put up. I'm very proud of the song attached to this newsletter: April. It was inspired by the AIDS crisis in the 90s but suits very well the April 2020 bloom of COVID, so its dour imagery still has resonance. Ron and Don Turner are typically brilliant in their interpretations, Ron on Bass, Don on Sax. I wrote it and sing it. Rudely play a steel string for moody effect.

I'm Hosting Milwaukee Trash Legend - VOOT WARNINGS
I posted a few songs from Milwaukee Trash Music scene legend Voot Warnings. Voot's been covered by the Violent Femmes, with the song Dance, Mother-Fucker, Dance. I cover Voot's song Old Clown and it's available to stream on this webpage. I'm going to upload a couple more mixes of that.
I have a gig coming up, but this virus... I'll post a newsletter on it pretty soon. I want to video it. If it's good, I'll put some clips up.
I uploaded two new rustle of luv songs: April (No Known Cure) and another version of a song that's already up here: Loin Street, which is a bastardization of a collection of poems by my friend Sheila Spargur. Her picture is on the image attached to the song Birthday Girl. This version has some vocals, which I don't remember who it is. Some of it is me. I'll say so, if I recognize anyone. I think I did the keys. Maybe Paul Setser helped. Paul mixed it.
April, I think is kind of an amazing song. This is Ron Turner on electric Bass, Don Turner on Sax and me on vocals and acoustic guitar, for some dumb reason. The song was inspired by the AIDS crisis, but it suits COVID19 very well in its dour solemnity; considering COVID "bloomed" in April of 2020

I Think My Music Fits, But Just Barely
I've attached the song 'Right?' to this post, because I don't know what N1M Genre category it fits. I've plopped a lot of them in World Music because the instrumentation vaguely suits it. Suits them better than the other genres. I'll probably switch this song to something else. Experimental? At the very least, it's mental.
That bizarre image up there is a poster I created and it's for sale at the Webstore Of Luv. Hope it doesn't give you an eye-ache. I made up this fake company called HypeSo and I'm creating fake promotional material for its different products. Like, as if rustle of luv was one of many HypeSo products. I done cut all them Luv store prices way low. There's lots of cool designer stuff that people will one day wish they'd gotten now; I bet. So says I!
I've been screwing up my pictures lately, but I've settled down now; though, some posts and newsletters have paid the price and lost the image that was associated with them. C'est l'vie. There will be more posts. New posts. Fun posts, like, like... this one! Yeah!
This is a shorty, but I shall return with more crap! About me! Yeah! We have fun.
Listen to that song. All the players and their instruments should be listed in the picture section. Just stroll through there. You'll figure it out. Peace!

Blowing Your Nose
I have found more ways to follow back and I do that. I have uploaded lots of new content, including a few audio dramas, I didn't write; but I'm entirely responsible for their existence. I have some more of those; I'll eventually post at N1M.
Today, we are talking about Floundering. It was recorded in Bill Stace's basement studio called Walls Have Ears. Bill played the drums on this track. I included it, mostly because of Ron Turner's bass part; sadly, somewhat buried in the mix. Don Turner plays Sax. Don's always great on Sax. This is a weird song. I think he really does a great job with it. Most of the song is me singing over a riff of mine, I like very much; playing on a nylon string guitar.
The lyrics are typical post-modern commentary on the futility of struggle in the compromised cultural miasma of competing socio-political capital interests. Blah, blah, blah. Yadda, yadda, yadda. Although, I'm being serious. That is what those lyrics are about. I may not have added the lyrics to the song file, yet. I have done so, tho, for most of the songs at N1M. Eventually, all things will be totally cooled out.
This song was not working, so we brought the instrumentation in little by little and then the drums at the end. The problem was, Ron's bass was never the problem. Bill and Ron mixed it. I'd say, they should have left the bass in from the beginning. If you listen closely, you can hear Ron shredding away back there.
The song still sort of fails at the end. We should've had Bill play a drum roll over the whole ending part. Danny Smars chimes in to help the vocals at the end. He never fails to improve my singing. He's on several other tracks.
Editor's Note: the prices have been slashed at the Store Of Luv. I dig them crazy shirts!
That's enough for today, Number One Musicians! I follow and share! Peace to the out!

I posted 5, 5-7 minute audio-dramas written by Milwaukee playwright Dave LaChance.
I met David at an audition for a movie shooting in Milwaukee and offered to record a project of his. I was not there when they recorded their parts and David did not have a director, so Paul Setser and I cut these parts together and added some audio environments, over about a year.
I think these 5 parts work together nicely. They are rather bleak, post-apocalyptical monologues with sound effects. They are not for sale anywhere, but they are downloadable from N1M. However, they are very large wave audio files. The actors are credited in some packaging art that has been included in the images section.
I follow back. I'll do a Newsletter about some of the new music I've posted, in a few days.
I tried to reduce the size of the picture attached to this post, but it doesn't seem any smaller.
Peace out Number One Musicians!

I Have No Idea What's Up With This Song, Either
I am following back as best as I can. It only lets me do a few each day. I am sharing people's work on twitter and facebook, in addition to Blincoin shares. Maybe 10 a week. Maybe more than that. 20? Usually networkers. People who are promoting something, usually.
Visual Desperate Prose was recorded by Bill Stace in his basement recording studio, sometime in the mid 90s. I wrote it as a bastardization of poetry by another buddy, Milwaukee music legend Rob McCuen; from his collection 'Square Dancing In A Roundhouse'. It's an assemblage of his verbiage, in an orientation that suited my esthetic sensibilities.
Rob played drums in a band called Plasticland and fronted many of his own bands as a lead singer. One of which was Love Bully. A great band. One of my all time favorites. Ron Turner played guitar for them. Rob was good sport about Visual Desperate Prose. He played drums on a few songs. I covered two songs he wrote: Jennifer and Empty Handed. Both were included in a 5 song 7-inch vinyl on the Splunge label.
Ron Turner Plays Bass. Don Turner plays Sax. I play a nylon guitar, in a brashly unskilled manner. Several years later, I took a crack at adding some more parts, but they aren't mixed too well; in my opinion. That is where Version Two comes from. I'd turn the keys down in the early parts. They do feature Michele (Mickey) Strader on back-ups and Paul Setser's keyboard parts. The very final bit is very nice. It comes together well for the end.
I have no ide what link Genre it might fit. I have it down as Abstract and Other. I also uploaded another Abstract song to my link playlist called: Right? Bill Stace played the drums for it. Ron and Don on Bass and Sax. I'm responsible for the rest. Peace Out, Number One Musicians!
