Really like the intro and how it picks up. The instrumentation flows really nice and I like the add of the mandolin which I think gives it a really nice feel. The vocals are on point and mixed really well. The melody is really interesting and the notes you choose surprise me in the later passages. I like your voice in the higher range towards the end and give the song more lift and feeling. The guitar solo is interesting, I probably would have used a different reverb as it doesn’t sit well in the mix but honestly that is just personal preference and doesn’t take away how good the track is. Really enjoyed this, listened to it about 5 times and I’ll give it another listen later on today. Thanks for writing this wonderful piece of music.

I like all the melodic elements, I just get confused as what and where the hook is. The Bb intro is really nice. The lift to C really works well. I listened to the song 5+x, which I think is important to understand what is going on. I caught 3 different melodic parts, but I didn't know which one was the hook, verse or chorus. I like them all, I just want to have more distinction between them so I know where I am. It all made more sense to me when I learned the song on the piano and played along with your recording. When you have the shuffle beat on the drums, the constant rake of the guitar and the mandolin playing constantly, my ear is dragged away from your voice. All those elements can work great live, but I would suggest that the arrangement is too dense. In the Em F C G, part I think if you held the note on the last part of the phrase for a few more beats, that would add a hook. Your voice is good, and you can easily do it. 4 bars of 4. Then a rest, then start again. When you take a breath, and the dobro enters the picture, that is probably the strongest part of the song. I think if you vary the instruments at different parts of the song, that the distinction between verse, bridge, chorus, hook .. will be more pronounced, recognizable and make the song much better. I listened through earbuds and couldn't hear the bass. When I put my good headphones on and played along with the recording, the bass playing came through nicely. In essence: Vary the instrumentation, allow more air in the recording, define and build the hook (perhaps that G I noted before) The production could use some stereo imaging a bit. Most importantly your vocals need to be front and center. It's a good set of melodies, now they just need some more emphasis and difference. I can tell you all this, as I am guilty of all of these things myself! I hope this is helpful. It is meant to be. Craig Christy craig.ensign.christy at gmail dot com downtowncow dot com

Cool track

I like the mix and the vocalist has a nice voice. The musicianship was good and solid. I didn't find a big distinction between the verses and the choruses. Maybe some more dynamics would help that some. I thought the mandolin was over played and a little bit distracting. But overall, I thought it was a good track.

Roberta has a good sounding Folk voice. The entry or beginning lyrics and music track to me was to slow and dragging. I just about lost interest and was going to quit listening. However I thought give it a chance. I'm glad I stuck around. The music picked up, and actually enjoyed the rest of the song. It was bright and uplifting sounding music track. I like the Mandolin sound it gave it the Folksy mood to the song. This is probably not a chart busting song, however what do I know. I'm just an old man. I gave it 3.5 stars, because to me the song was worth my time to listen to. Good luck Robera, keep on singin' and writing.

Roberta, first let me say this, I have heard many artists, voices and songs. But, you are one of a kind. Too Late, is a really good conversational tune, you are a really good songwriter, not to mention your beautiful God given voice. I am so glad to write this review. Love the way the song begins, with the guitar, as it plays thru taking my heart and feelings on a journey, All the instruments flow like a river, the song timing is perfect. My third time, wait one more time to listen. You got your own style. thank you Songedge

Pleasant Folk

Sweet folky song with light brushes playing a nice train beat. A little slide guitar here and there, twangy guitar solo and all of it constantly accompanied by a delightful + playful mandolin in the background. The voice is warm and tender, sometimes however for my taste conflicting with the mandolin, when it should be more of a call-and-response. The overall sound is pleasant. But the lyrics, especially the harsh command at the end, state the opposite of what the music is conveying. Maybe rewrite the words?

Beautiful voice and very well written !! I enjoy the feel of this song. Nice rhythm, I like the guitar solos. The song is a very good length, not too short or too long yet it leaves the listener wanting more, at the very least I felt prompted to hear it again, and yet again. Very country, very nice !!

Hi Roberta! I like your Tune "Too Late" Very Catchy "Country Pop" Your Band sounds "Very Tight & Together" Very Professional the way you "Start Out Slowly" and Build Up the Song! The use of Brushes on the Snare accompanied by the Mandolin "Works Very Well" to keep the Vocals "Out Front & Strong" The Added "Slide & Steel Guitar" coming in later is "Well Arranged" and Adds to your Composition! (4) Stars! Please Check Out My Entire Country Album "Johnny O And Friends" on UTube! I think you will enjoy my Album & Videos! All The Best! Johnny O And Friends

I am a huge fan of bluegrass instrumentation, and I love how you have produced this song with a slightly twangy electric guitar instrumental section, mandolin riffs all throughout, and a very tasteful dobro. I think it's a perfect compliment to the main melody lines. The song also had a great build (I love songs that do that). Love your voice. A beautiful alto voice, and the range of the song was great to highlight that. Only two real (and minor) critiques. The first was I think you could add an intro to this song. It could be very short, but the lyrics jumping out at the front was a little abrupt. The second is that I really liked the simple melody throughout, but thought maybe a little more variation would suit the song well. That being said, wonderful song. I could put it on repeat as is.

This is an interesting little tune . The picking is Clear and good the vocals could use a little more mixing to bring your volume up a bit , I had a little trouble hearing all the words ! The drums were right on key making you want to tap your feet! The flow of the instruments carry the song throughout but at the end it seemed a little cut off , almost like the song was timed and time was up, over all Nice tune and makes me wanna listen to what else is in your pag of tunes! Thanks for asking me for a review, keep sending us your tunes, best to you!

Hearing It Is Essential

Roberta has hits all the points on this upbeat country tune. Backing music including the mandolin and late pedal steel are very effective. The shuffle drum beat keeps the toes tapping an tune moving along. However, the best is Roberta's voice! Check out this song, you will enjoy!

Too Late review

This is a really difficult song to review because part of me doesn't like it and part of me really likes what you are doing here. I guess the best thing I can say is you have a wonderful voice and it shines in so many areas of the song. What I feel needs more work are some of the lyrics. Saying things like 'let me die' is really out there and should possibly be rethought. The arrangement could possibly use a bit of work as well. One thing about it though is it is different sounding in style, and that is a good thing. Keep writing and doing what you do. Good luck!

TO LATE

I THOUGHT "TO LATE" WAS AN AVERAGE SONG. IT WAS A LITTLE MUNDANE IN THE BEGINNING BUT DID PICK UP SPEED TOWARDS THE ENDING,,,,,,.LIKED THE GUITAR SOLO AT THE END. COULD BE THAT SOME BACK GROUND VOCALS AND HARMONY COULD HELP THE SONG. IT WAS EASY TO LISTEN TO. CONGRATS ON YOUR EFFORTS ! JOE NAVRATH

Emotional Country-Song

Helpful

Remarkable country song with folk elements. Elaborated acoustic-guitars playing the main role in this arrangement and puts one immediately into the right mood. The lyrics come from the heart and Roberta Scimè captures the mood with her unique vocals and brings really feeling into the song. She has a great talent to give an account in words about her lost love including all relevant characteristics, qualities, or events. Imaginative transitions of the acoustical instrumentation makes the song lively and increases the tune. Additional good drums and perfect bass-line making the music complete. Overall impressive song, professional recorded. I´m sure, you will like to add. Let others know your recommendation.

Well, this melody and the accompaniment are both bright & cheerful. Good players and a competent performance bring the message to its audience and could easily become a favorite in the genre for Roberta's current and future fans.
