That Guitar intro was amazing bro

This song sounds like one of those baseball scenes in the movies where they are all having a good time. It has potential, In my opinion I think you should continue doing what you do. One day this will all make sense. As long as people like me and you don't quit, our day will come.

Four Chord Magic

Helpful

Hey Robbie, thanks for posting this song. It never ceases to amaze me. Four chords working their magic again. It's no secret that the listener will instinctively find comfort in familiarity and repetition, but it takes that extra sprinkling of pixie-dust to lift and hold the interest. You have. Not just the four chords, but also a classic 'riff-rock' anthem that, as you yourself suggest, could fire the stadium audience. Your vocals sit perfectly with the music, perhaps just a tiny bit low in the mix on the chorus, and the lyrics do the job too. Catchy chorus and (sometimes unfortunately) that's usually what counts. Having listened to many contributions on this platform, I think you deserve maximum rating. All the best from Berlin, Richard

Another great song from Robbie Banks - great stuff. The intro to the song is nice and steady and clear, while the guitar intro is really well played, with great tone to boot. The song drives along really well, driven by the lead guitar riffs which sustain the entire song. The vocals are crisp and well presented, there were one or two ''spots'' where the instruments overshadowed the vocals, but only very slightly [small potatoes in the overall end product]. The harmonies when they came in, rose the entire vibe and drive of the song to another level, they were also nicely in tune and sync. The only thing that would have been good for the overall ''benefit'' of the song, if it could be improved, was the ''drumming''. I know that machines have taken over from drummers, but a slight change in beat and tempo would have made the song just so much better than what it already is. All in all, another great song from you - well Robbie.

Great Work!

at first i notice the sound that is to me really good and clean. the song on it's own is a great feel good song that kind of reminds me of a David Bowie song from the 80's. this is a good song to wake up to and enjoy a good coffee while watching the sunrise, i really enjoyed it. the length is just perfect and the build up and progression of it is simply perfect. i genuinely and frankly could see this song on every pop radio station...great work!

A throw back to best of American pop rock. Great production on this fine tune from Robbie. The simple lyrics are delivered with style and quality over a solid guitar based song. The catchy chorus gives appeal but the melody from the guitars is what holds it all together. Many layers make up this cake, but all the flavours work well together and result in a great song. Personal favourite moments are the vocal harmonies and the cutting distorted guitar melody. Excellent track, worthy of your time ! Peter

Great beat, and I like the guitar! My only complaint is that I would like to hear your vocal a bit more out front of the mix. From what I could hear of the lyrics, they are quite good. Looking forward to hearing more! All the best in your endeavors.

Hi Robbie, It's very clear, that "Unclear", is a very cool song. Great intro guitar riff, that pulls you into this rcok'n track and keeps the energy up through out the song. Nice kind of punky vibe as well. The vocals are very good and sit well within the mix, although in some spots, could be a little louder. I love it when the harmonies come in...they really lift the song. Great guitar playing! The drums could use a little more variety, but over-alI think the arrangement is good. Nice job on the production as well. Kudos from me.

Hi there, Mr. Robbie Banks. You sure have a good thing going with this tune, and the progression of the chords is just what everyone is looking for in their search for the right way to produce music. I think you can still work quite a bit with the arrangement and getting the panning just right, but you are in the right direction with this one. Cheers from norway

review of 'Unclear'

this is an upbeat track with a pretty repetitive 4 chord sequence, G, D, Em & C that doesn't seem to break this change, I'd have liked to hear a chordal change in there somewhere to break up the dynamics a little bit, thankfully there's a stop halfway through to give the ear a rest. Essentially the chorus isn't bad and I like the sounds used here, although the acoustic guitar intro sounds a little badly recorded. The doubled up voices on vocal tracks are good but need to be used carefully as too much can get hard for the ear after 3.45 minutes of it. Drums would be better if recorded live, I think they are electronic. Nice guitar playing throughout although the lead guitar is high in the mix. The chorus is nice and uplifting.

Good vision but...

The song, Unclear, a tune by Robbie Banks has a good vision and good potential. The song has a pop/rock throwback feel of the 80's. It's pretty well arranged considering that by his own admission, Robbie Banks is self taught with no musical training. It's apparent not only through his songwriting but through his artwork as well, that he is a natural artist with loads of potential. All that being said, now for the nitty gritty. I have always stood by the policy of, if you are going to release something to the public, especially for review, it should be your very best attempt. This recording is obviously a demo recording recorded in the garage. It is a well recorded demo but nonetheless, a demo, and it sounds like it. The professional quality is lacking. What does that mean? It means that you have a great idea, a great vision, a leaping stone. Take the extra step and get it engineered properly to get the most out of your sound especially the vocals and your harmonies. Spend the money even though you may have the gear and get a professional outcome. That is just my opinion on how people should release material. I believe in always releasing your best sound. In my opinion, never release a demo. That is my biggest gripe. As far as the songwriting is concerned, I would have tried to rhyme certain phrases better but then again, that is just me and that is always really up to what the author is trying to convey. I would try modernizing it a bit so it wouldn't have such a throwback feel. Throwback is good but this does sound like a demo that was made back in 1990, right before the grunge. Anyway, it is a fun song, that should be tweaked as far as production is concerned. Good effort Robbie Banks! Keep on rocking!

Whoa!

It was kind of Barenaked Ladies -like and then Steve Vai came tearing in there. Great playing on the guitar but everything else seems out of place and there really is nothing unique about this song. The lyrics are very predictable and green and the chord progression is elementary. Both of these things could be made up for with the right production but this was not it. Sorry. If you gave me this song as a producer and said you HAD to record it , I would say slow it down and take a more intimate acoustic approach.

Nice production, Clear song writing and production, not so unclear as the title suggests. It comes friendly and lovely like Flower Power meets pop of the eighties. Has potential to a potential listener audience.
