A collection of songs I have "felt my way through" as the pandemic rolls on. This is my new means of supporting the releases to Professional status on CDBaby, where I now have about 240 releases in limbo, awaiting funding for final production. While I have labeled this a a single release project, I will use every penny possible towards getting the rest licensed and released, as funds allow.
What We Need & What You Get Let me break it down for y'all: The initial plan was to generate enough funds to pay advanced royalties and some much simpler administrative fees to CDBaby. My hopes are greater. Physical CDs and a producer, those are dreams of what I deem to be an "ideal" outcome. While I am dedicating a couple of the songs to individuals... I am mainly dedicating this to all my fans and listeners on link! I have been asked again and again where folks can purchase my music. Now that the CDBaby Digital Store has closed, that is no longer an option. I need funding to properly distribute through all the normal modern music outlets.
The Impact To be honest, I don't just want this, I need it: If funded, this will be my first fully world-wide public release, other than "The Public Domain Project" that I pushed through to make sure I knew the process. I have moved my studio 8 times and morphed it and the sound as many times, but recording projects like this have become second nature to me since I started the "Sing Into My Can Network" broadcasts years ago. Also on CDBaby waiting. A little will mean a lot, and a little more can mean much more than you think if enough agree that this project "should be". The release will also include a special pandemic parody that I am hoping can go "viral"!
Risks & Challenges I could die tomorrow... number one challenge. But to quote Willie, I woke up, not dead again today" That aside from that, for the moment... I am well know for stating, "I win, 'cuz I don't quit!" The entire project has already been recorded and mastered, so the only obstacle might be awaitng shipping on the physical CDs if we receive enough pledges at that Reward Level.
Other Ways You Can Help Some people just can't contribute, but that doesn't mean they can't help: Please help to get the word out and make some noise about my campaign. Please use the Indiegogo share tools! Remember, if you help me with this project, I will create a very special reward level for each that follows, where earlier contributors get a rebate of some portion of the next donation on my projects. Ask yourself: if you wished to help me as a "credited" producer for residuals, would you like to make a larger contribution? Then again if the desire to support me as as artist is welling up in you, I will entertain engaging a full time producer, but with limited powers and responsibilities.
My first release from LoneSome in Virus Town, USA Alone Again (Naturally)
I have been working on this list since I self sequestered myself nine weeks ago. I have written two original songs that are about the mess the world is in right now, including a very serious parody. Both soon to be recorded and shared.
But for now, for tonight, I will be practicing the list of tracks that will make up "LoneSome in Virus Town, USA", and continue looking forward to the days when once again we can move freely.
Hello John, we discussed... oh, yeah... He's gone. John Prine has left the planet.
The day I ran into John Prine I was just going to get catfish before going out to sing here in Austin, and I certainly wasn't expecting live music that night, let alone John Prine.
I found one seat at a table, as though it was waiting for me, and then they began. What timing.
I treasure the moments as I remember eating my dinner while his band and he went through stuff from a CD he had released, which I have since lost my copy of somehow, and it was the first time I heard, "In Spite Of Ourselves", by some odd chance.
Most the world still has no idea who the man John Prine was, but most of the world knows at least one of his songs, "Angel From Montgomery", and those that knew who he was, probably loved all his music.
I have covered more than 2200 songs now, and the three of his I have posted on NumberOneMusic, I have raised to the top of the playlist.
According to the stats, I have done exceedingly well here on NumberOneMusic.

I have found it easy to use and productive, in that it would seem from the direct email replies to my newsletters that you actually exist out there, somewhere... so here's the point... I have seen far too many bad reports about this site and yet I have had relatively good success, according to the stats they show us. Almost 3.5 million page views in 3 years! Gotta love it
If you have come this far, hit reply, so I know you're really out there, somewhere.
2019 has been a lean year for recording new songs for me as I have been building a software company the last couple of years. I think I recorded fewer than 20 songs all last year, when in 2009 I recorded well over 250 covers! I now have recorded somewhere over 2200 covers. Thanks for listening!
