    Uncommon Ground Lakeview

United States, Illinois, Chicago, 3800 N. Grace, 60613
Songwriters Phil Circle and Emmett Joseph have more in common than the two decades that separate them might indicate. Both write songs that dive deep into their own personal, and sometimes painful, life experiences, and demonstrate a fascination with the human condition. Both have solid vocal and guitar skills to get their stories across. And, both are expatriot suburban boys, ha.

Recently they shared the stage for the first time to support a touring act passing through town. By the end of the night, this show at Uncommon Ground Lakeview was put together. This may be one of the better examples of Chicago style songwriters; with the gritty, often blues influenced, and from-the-hip story telling... that approach that says, "I'm still figuring this life thing out, I'm still a work in progress, may that never change."

Phil Circle first played Uncommon Ground Lakeview when it opened in 1991. It was a tiny coffee shop and musicians played by the counter while people bought their coffee. Now it's one of the premier songwriter venues in Chicago with an outstanding green menu, wide beverage selection, and a great listening room for the music.

All ages may attend with an adult.

Plan ahead for parking or take the 'L' and get off at Addison by Wrigley Field. It's a couple blocks north at Grace. The Sheridan 'L' stop is northeast of the venue. Easy free parking can be found on Irving Park Rd. if you don't mind walking about six blocks southwest.

    Cover is $10.
