New song release: Li Wenliang (Gone for Good)

Thanks for your interest in our music. We hope you are staying safe and well during this unprecedented time in human history. Today I am releasing a new song, dedicated to a global hero of the COVID-19 outbreak. His name is Li Wenliang, and we have made his photo our profile picture for the time being. Li Wenliang is a doctor in Wuhan, China. On December 30, he sent a WeChat message to 7 or 8 of his friends from medical school, warning them that there were 7 people under quarantine at the hospital in Wuhan, suffering from a SARS-like illness. He urged his friends to take protective measures and to spread the word. The Chinese authorities soon picked up on the news, and summoned Li to the local police station, along with 7 others. The police accused them of spreading false rumors and creating social disorder, and warned them that it was criminal conduct, and if they continued, they would be jailed. They were all required to sign statements, confessing wrongdoing, and then released. Li Wenliang resumed his practice (ophthalmology), and in January, he caught the COVID-19 virus from a patient who was not showing any symptoms. Once he caught the virus, he spoke out openly about the outbreak and the government's handling of it, even though he fully expected to recover. Sadly, in early February, Li Wenliang died of the coronavirus. He was 33 years old -- the same age at death as Jesus of Nazareth. Li's death left his 4-year-old son and pregnant wife bereft. His death sparked such outrage in China that the central government announced an investigation. The concluded that he should not have been reprimanded, and that's all they said. This sparked further outrage, so the government blamed the whole thing on the local police, passed a law making it a crime to criticize the government for their handling of the virus outbreak. Then they named Li Wenliang a Martyr, which is the highest honor the Chinese government can bestow on a civilian. You and I may very well owe our lives to Li Wenliang, because without his warning, the virus might have gotten even farther before it was detected. As bad as things are in our country right now, they very well might be worse, if not for Li Wenliang. I hope you enjoy the song, and share it widely. Stay safe and well, Phil
