I'm Rowly. I was born in Blacktown, a suburb of Sydney, Australia and I've lived in a few places since then, but now I'm back here, and it's a great place.
I've always loved music, particularly singing, but until 2003, when I started playing guitar, I never fully appreciated music as a whole, as in what a song fully entails; structure, instrumental composition and how all the elements compliment each other, but once I started playing an instrument, all the songs I always loved to sing along to became new to me.
I grew up listening to my parent's musical tastes, which were mostly 50s and 60s classics, but once I hit teens, I started discovering my own tastes in music.
I still love the music that my parents exposed me to, but I have broadened my horizons across many decades and genres.
I've always loved creative writing and I hope that this has transcended into my song lyrics; I try to tell as story first and make it sound good second; my feelings are that songs are a method of communication and I don't want to waste this opportunity I have to convey meaning and depth with shallow meaningless words songs are which are all too common.
I continue to be a student of music and I hope to be such for many years to come.
