Hello. Some good news, some great news, and some sad news. We'll begin with the sad. My best friend, and playing partner, John, passed away on Monday, aged just 62. John was a superb singer and guitarist, with a great sense of humour, and a kind heart. Over the preceding weekend, John attended the 30th Birthday celebrations of a nephew of his, and came home on Sunday night, right as rain. He got up on Monday, to attend a doctors appointment, and while he was on his way, he had a massive heart attack. He died straight away. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him. Rest In Peace. John is gone to a better place, where no-one can harm him. Now the good stuff. I've been with a band for the past 3 weeks, and it's going really well. We are doing covers, and, whilst I would prefer to be doing my own stuff ie originals, this is shaping up to be good. No name for the band as yet. Your suggestions would be welcome. Obviously it's not Net. Now the great news. Yesterday, I received, from Nashville, an MP3 of one of my country songs, "One Of Many Heartaches", and, while they have changed some chords, and the arrangement of the tune, it's a good rendition. They will be my publisher for a period of 2 years, during which time they will pitch (attempt to sell) the song to big name country artists/acts, music/film/TV producers, etc. I have high hopes for it. It might come to nothing, or it could put my name on the map. Time will tell. Apparently, the company think it deserves to be heard, and they have the clout to make sure that happens. So I am confident. I would be lying if I were to say that I don't want to make money from my song, I certainly do. But I also want to build a reputation, as a songwriter on top of his game, able to mix it with the big girls and boys, in Nashville, and elsewhere. My musical direction is evolving all the time, it covers several genres, including rock, blues, country, funk, and progressive rock. I don't want to be tied down to any one of them. I feel I have a lot to offer, tackling the various styles back-to-back. It'll be very interesting, going into the future, and seeing how things (albums etc) turn out. I hope to resume recording my new album sometime within the next fortnight, I have 3 tracks almost done, with 9 to go. As I said, apart from drums, I'll be recording everything myself. Now, before I forget, it's time for the NETROCKER of the fortnight. And this time it goes to Tim, who has been a fan for a long time, recommending my work regularly. Thank you, Tim. But as usual, I want to thank you all for being so AWESOME!!! I hope your lives are going well, 'see you in a fortnight. Yours Forever, Eja xxx.

Hello once more. So what have I got for you this time? Well, firstly, it looks like I've scored a place in a covers band. The line-up is a guitarist, a bassist, and myself on vocals. They use loops to get the drum sound. So what are we covering? I'll give you a few examples- "Black Magic Woman", "Teenage Kicks", "One", "With Or Without You", "I Will Follow", "Keep Your Hands To Yourself", "Breathe In The Air", "Take It Easy", "Peaceful Easy Feeling", "Wish You Were Here", "Us And Them", "Born To Run", "This Town Ain't Big Enough For Both Of Us", "Run To You", "Summer Of '69", "La Isla Bonita", "Memories (The Way We Were", "Do It Again", and tons more. It may take some time to learn all the songs, before we hit the road. We're planning a 2-hour set, I've only had one session with them so far, but already we have about 20 numbers in common. And, most importantly, we are getting on well. Okay, that's that. The whole Nashville gig is continuing apace, it'll be about another 4/5 weeks before anything materialises. Then, they'll be sending me CD copies of the finished song, and will be publishers of the tune for a period of 2 years. During that time, they'll be pitching (attempting to sell) it to singers, producers, DJs, TV/Radio people etc, to see if anyone is interested in recording it, or using it on a movie soundtrack, or giving it airplay etc. I'm super-excited by it all, although nothing is guaranteed. What else? I'll soon be placing my LP, and EP, into my local record store, so, again, if they sell, I'll be very happy. Of course, this means gigging, to promote the discs. This won't be happening for a few weeks yet. Lastly, my producer has returned from America, so I'll be resuming recording pretty soon, my new album, that is. There is some way to go yet, I have 3 tracks done, with 9 still to do. Suffice to say, I'm going to be kept busy for some time to come. I wouldn't have it any other way. Now, my SUPERFAN of the fortnight goes to.....................all of you, you are all so cool, and awesome, it's nice to have 1,000+ of you now, I'm honoured, and humbled. Take care until next time. Yours Forever, Eja xxx.

Well hello, how are you all. First off, it appears I made a mistake in sending you my address, and expecting you to do same. My apologies. I just wanted you to have physical copies of my CDs, which I thought you wanted. My mistake. But not to worry, we still have N1M, where I can upload my future material. Still no band, although I keep trying. Those of you from The United States Of America will be interested to know that I have just written a brand new song, called "New York". It needs a bit of work, but the bones of it is there. Now I have to tell you something. I am overweight, and I have been worried about it for some time. It has cost me auditions, and possible friendships. I have to do something about it. One thing I have done, is to place an ad seeking other overweight individuals. Hopefully I'll hook up with some of them soon. Other new songs are "Locust Wind", "Through A Hurricane", "The Message", and "Touch". I have been in contact with the people in Nashville, about my song "One Of Many Heartaches", which, it would seem, is currently being recorded by their professional musicians over there. The results should be available in 4 to 6 weeks, they are going to send me some CD copies of the song, and are going to act as my publisher, for a period of two years. During that time, they are going to pitch (attempt to sell) the tune to major artists, producers, and TV and radio people, to see if anyone is interested in recording it, or putting it in a movie soundtrack, or a TV/radio ad etc. It's no mistake that the song is my most popular overall, more than all the rock, funk etc. It would appear to have 'hit' written all over it. I guess we'll see. As you are probably aware, a lot of artists have only one hit their whole career, but manage to live off that one song all their lives. As for me, I reckon I have at least a few more hits in the bag, to help elongate my career. I have numbers that are pure country, others that are country/rock, and still more that are rock and roll. Yes, rock, funk, country and progressive, I have enough to keep me busy for a considerable length of time. Now, it's time to announce my NETROCKER/SUPERFAN of the fortnight, and this time the award goes to Jarvis Durham, who has been in touch a few times, full of encouragement and enthusiasm. Thank you, Jarvis. But listen, you are all so, so cool, I cherish your support, and I hope you are keeping well, may your God go with you. Yours forever, Eja xxx. Love'n'Hugs.

Hello all. 'Mostly good news. I now have my CDs up for sale, my debut LP, Net, and my double EP, Net-A Tale...Of Two Sides. Actually, I'm only looking for a mere 7 euro for the album, the EP is for free (limited edition). Here's my address, to send your postal order etc.- Eja Slade, 4, Cashel House, 203, Cashel Road, Crumlin, Dublin 12, Ireland. I will get the discs to you as soon as possible. I'm getting some other merchandise done at the moment, t-shirts, and business cards. I'm off the cigarettes 39 days today, which means I have money to spare, for other things. 'Still trying to put a band together, or join an existing one. I'm just dying to play live. I don't have a NETROCKER of the fortnight, so instead, I'm giving the award to each and every one of you, you are so cool, and awesome. My producer is back in 3 weeks, I can't wait to get back into the studio again. Until next time, take care, I love you all, Yours Forever, Eja xxx.

Well hello there!!! I hope you are all doing well, and that life is going the way you want it to. Turn up those sounds! For those of you in war-torn lands, or in places where there are storms, or where there is no justice, my heart goes out to you. I sometimes sing "Walk On" by U2 in my live set, and you are all on my mind. Also, I have a new song, called "Immigrant", whose title says it all. It's not quite done yet, but will be powerful when it's finished. My producer is still away, on his working holiday, and will be for the next 6 weeks, so I'm not going to wait for his return. I'll be going into the studio, hopefully, in the next few days, with his business partner. I have begun, again, to try and piece together a band, and, right now, it's looking good. I have a drummer, who is into Steve Gadd, and a bass player, who seems to be serious too. And a second guitarist, but he is on holiday for another week to 10 days or so. They all seem enthusiastic, only time will tell. At this point, I must give a great big THANK YOU to all you NETROCKERS, for all the plays on N1M, and all the cool messages. From the heart, thanks. I don't know if I said, but I made the setlists for Net III, Net IV, and Net V. All these albums are already written, but, of course, I am writing new stuff all the time, so some tunes might be replaced. When I do get to recording, it will hopefully be with the drummer and bassist. Both these men are agreeable to operating under the Net name, which I'm very happy with. As you know, once a band/project has a name, and for several years, it's of paramount importance to keep that name, if at all possible. I said to the guys that, as soon as they join, they will have co-ownership of the name, and an equal share of royalties, if and when that happens. I can't be fairer than that. Of course, first and foremost, the boys have to learn the songs, and then we have to get gigs. The drummer has some contacts, in this regard, and I have some too. That's all the news, I think. My SUPERROCKER of the Fortnight goes to my potential new bass player, Sergio, for his coolness, and honesty. He has been open about his ability, saying he is not a virtuoso, but that he is a good player. I'll take that. But all of you are supercool, it has to be said, and I wish each and every one of you a fantastic Summer, and peace in your time. Yours forever, Eja xxx.
