That Jimmy Buffet Feel

I love to hear really well produced songs and this is one of them. Everything about this song is what it takes to make a hit. The music, lyrics, production and of course, the artist. Mike really knows how to put a country song over. I've been making music in Nashville for over 18 years now. This has that 'Nashville' stamp on it.. The key is to get it out to the public. Play it all you can at your live shows... get it to the local radio stations... get some promotion here... Anything to get it heard by as many people as you possibly can... Make it happen Mike... You've got a good one here... Randy

Loco In Mexico Review

The guitar riffs are great. The music for the song is very solid. You are going to deal with critics over the vocals, I want to be perfectly honest. The lyrics tell a good, usual country story. Keep it up!

Loco In Mexico

This song could be much better with some work on the lyrics and tighter arrangement of the music. Also, the harmony doesn't harmonize. It just sounds wrong to me. I'm not saying it's a bad effort, because it's not. However, it could be a lot better with some more polishing. It kind of sounds to me like it was a hurry up job to get it on a disk. Unfortunately, it won't go anywhere as it is. I want to encourage the writer, though, to continue writing. I feel that he will get better with time and maybe can make this song a lot better. Mike is not a pretty good singer and can find better material for his voice I think.

Wow, right off the bat you get the feel of jimmy buffets margaritas. Nice drums and percussion going on with that bopping 4/4 timing. Nice arrangements love the steel guitar sounds. Very nice vocal and harmonies throughout this song. It definitely reminds me of hanging out on the beach soaking up the sun and putting down some fresh mellons and liquor. Very nicely done.

Nice feel

Song had a bit of a Willie Nelson vibe, laid back style with a nice rhythmic guitar beat. Melodic, manly voice and some nice lyrics telling the story. More talky in places than sung but overall a pleasant song with a nice melody.

Holiday song

Hello Mike Bryant.. You have got a good catchy sounding tune which immediatly gets me thinking that the setting is the main focus of the lyrics,I imagine swaying palm trees, beach n bars n drinks telling the story of someone in holiday mood drinking and getting on the wrong side of the law. Your voice is a good fit for the song and the vocals and instructions all blend well are well balanced. I can just see holiday makers having a great time dancing to this song. I feel it is a happy song?????, I especially like the uptempo instrumental intro.Thank you for requesting a review and sharing Cheers Johnny Shilo Melbourne Au

Watch out for those Federales!

I haven't written a review for a long time before last night. So, I guess I'm on a roll! As I have said many times before Mike Bryant is a really great songwriter. That man just has a way with words and knows how to tell a story. "Loco in Mexico" is another great example. His production quality is good, but truly doesn't do justice to his level of songwriting prowess. The picture that he paints with his word smithing is sheer genius. This story starts out with him going down to Mexico to have a good time just like everyone does, but ends up on the wrong side of the law due to his misunderstanding of the customs and "Other Factors". Then as an American it turns out that it's really all about the money after all. The way he crafts the song makes it sound like it's his fault when we all know that when you're down there you're always playig with a loaded deck. The proof in the pudding is when he finally gets out of jail he gets arrested again on the way back to the border...for a traffic light. The tasteful use of Latin percussion along with the traditional instruments gives this song a great local flavor reminicent of a Mariachi band or maybe a Joe Walsh tune. "Pow, right between the eyes" Watch out fo those Federales! They'll get you every time ;)

Very original,like it a lot

Good recording with a great original idea. should be considered radio play for sure. Song has a great beat. My sister Elise has a song similar call "Make me a jug of Tequila" good stuff as we are only in a card of cards a mile high. There's a lot of music out there.

Funny

Mike Bryant's recording of "Loco in Mexico" is Jimmy-Buffet-like country pop, reminiscent of Margaritaville in its groove. Sort of a cross between that and "Third Rate Romance" by the Amazing Rhythm Aces. The band is good, with solid performances on all the instruments. Mike's lead vocal is pretty good, but the harmony on the chorus just doesn't sound right. The songwriting is pretty good, and tells an entertaining story. Some of the phrases have a few too many syllables, causing the phrases to sound a little rushed. For example, "I tried to apologize, but I couldn't speak the language." Could leave out the word "I", or even both the words "but I" and it would sing more smoothly, with no loss of meaning. Despite its flaws, I like this song for the story it tells.

Hello

This is nice Melody ( and a touch from Mexico ) I like that..If You just make a Better Vocal ..I'm sure that You be able to found a better Singer who will put His Heart in To .. and if You will rerecord It please make sure that You will have a Radio Ready Recording in order to send It to some Radio Stations.. as It is now I do not think They will use it..Music Publishers are Very hard to please so is also a good idea to send Them The Best Song possible..I wish You good luck with submissions..

In MY Opinion

Greetings, Thank you for choosing me to review your work, I count it an honor to be included in such a task. My hat is off to you and anyone willing to step out and share their gift, talent and love of music to the public. Be it a musician, singer, song writer, actor and so-on. I myself, via 40 some years of experience in the fields, on the road, in the studio, radio, TV, video, and management, consider myself to be a seasoned musician, singer, song writer, studio-sound tech/engineer/ owner/operator, stage manager, find it sometimes hard/difficult and perhaps not even fair to sit in a seat, voicing My Opinion concerning another's creative efforts. Especially in certain genres of music I am not all that familiar with concerning very important elements that make up and meet the required standards to justify the various levels of ratings and grades. So, in saying ALL that, I will limit myself to MY Opinion concerning the quality of the work according to My ears, and the standards I have been familiarized with thru-out the years. I hold to the old - saying " Beauty Is In The EAR of The Beholder ... LOL. The sound quality of the recording over-all is very crisp and bright and clear, I really enjoyed the Latin beat mixed with steel guitar. Vocals are smooth and natural. The mix levels let me know who was still in charge of this song. Very easy to sit back and listen to. Nice Job. Cute story. I mean no offense in any part, I myself take all feedback and use it as a tool toward my next project. I pray you feel the same way. Either way, I say to you, keep doing what you do, keep kicking and enjoying what you do. I tell folks all the time for many years. When it stops being FUN, then it's time to stop, and stand back and think about what we are doing, why we are doing it, how we are doing it, what we and others are getting out it. Is it what we want, and how we want it. IF NOT. what are willing to do from there? Thank you again for asking MY OPINION. Johnny

Interesting

What an interesting combination of the backing. I must say it’s a little out of beat a little and could be brushed up a little but you’re definitely onto something there. Try to stick to the 1,2,1,2 rhythm for this song. I wanna hear the lyrics but you’re mumbling in some areas, maybe due to confidence. I think you need to work on the vocals, too much strain, it feels like you’re forcing it out. Again that’s a confidence issue. Try relax the muscles a little. Overall I think you’re really onto something here. Keep working it! You’ve got big things coming xx

Review of Loco in Mexico

Nice vocals and great instruments, the guitar brings out the country sounds, great drums and a toe tapper beat, I am sure you will like this little tune about a wayward stranger that took a trip to Mexico , got messed up and got thrown in the callabos and trying to talk his way out! Maybe he learns his lesson . Maybe not but the drinks and ladies were alluring and he is in trouble with the law! So listen up and help bail this guy out!

Channeling Mr. Buffet

Love this recording. Very smooth. Great production. Very akin to Jimmy Buffet with the feel of the song. Great players on the recording. Love the pedal steel too. Can totally picture this playing as I'm sitting on a beach in Cancun drinking tequila at sunset!
