About Chris Emerson

After a long hiatus, Chris Emerson returns with 'Lemonade' his first single on his forthcoming third album, entitled, '7 Year Town' set for release later this year. 'Lemonade' is a feel good country pop tune about navigating lifes ups and downs. Emerson reuited with his original producers Stephen Catizone and Donald Poole in Boston. Features electric guitar work by Lucas Fonseca, and Nashville guitar hero Jamie Laritz! #outnow via Distrokid on all major platforms!

Originally from the south, Emerson's roots are in Kentucky and Maryland where he grew up. His influences are many. Emerson grew up listening to Classic Rock, Country, and Motown.  “As a kid, my Dad used to sing Beatles songs on his guitar, and my Mom played Stevie Wonder and Gladis Knight around the house.  My first record was Ray Charles, ‘Hit The Road Jack’, so to be asked to open for him years later was absolutely surreal”.

After studying music in Boston, he co-wrote a song with Leo Mellace and Charles Christopher, called, ’All Because of You’, which won in the John Lennon Songwriting Contes, which caught the attention of SONY Tri-Star Columbia Pictures, who nabbed it for the hit television series, Dawson’s Creek, which led Emerson to signing with Empire/BMG/ NYC.

‘Tourist‘ the debut release initially came out on start-up indie-label, Momomoy Records in Boston. When their distribution with (expired link). in Chicago folded, Emerson was picked up by Empire/BMG in NYC. with the help of Tolga Katas, TFK Media and MVP Promotions.

The CD was re-released as Self titled with four new songs, including a Dianne Warren song, called, ‘This Could Take All Night’, and the classic, Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas, which was beautifully produced by Andrew Sherman (Athena Franklin, Mirah Carey, VH1 Essence Awards) and features Emerson's killer falsetto and Andrew on the grand paino and backing arrangements. Other songs on the album were written by Stacy Widelitz, Michael Carrasco, and Blaise Tostti.

The singles and full-length CDs are available on Amazon, Apple, Spotify, Utube, and all major platforms.

'All Because Of You’ was the biggest single at radio, reaching #22 on the R&R chart, #23 on the Billboard chart, and #15 on the FMQB chart! It was the 64th most played song on the radio in 2003, according to Billboard Magazine! Subsequent releases went to #28 and #34, respectively. This song has recently resurfaced on alot of indie charts this year with new versions.

While the songs were being released on the radio, Emerson was out on the road on an eighth month national media tour, visiting hundreds of radio and television stations. This landed him on tour, opening for Hootie & the Blowfish, Foreigner, Blues Traveler, Sugar Ray, and Grammy Award Winner, Sean Colvin, to name a few. Emerson was even invited to open for Ray Charles and Aretha Franklin.

After touring for two years with a 5 peice band, Emerson moved to Nashville, where he recorded his long awaited second release, 'Shadow of You' in the legendary Ocean Way Studios and The Sound Kitchen, with some of Nashville's top studio musicians, even recording songs by top industry writers like, Adam Dorsey, Steve Bogard, and Jeffrey Steele, to name a few. Emerson and Laritz produced the record, and Dave (Puck) Matthews mixed it. Recording took a year and employed a who's who of session players. Fourteen songs in total. Seven were written pr co-written by Chris Emerson. It was mastered by Greg Calbi at Sterling Sound in NYC before they moved to Nashville.

As major label mergers and the demise of brick and mortar retail gave way to digital downloading, Emerson’s release got caught up in the meat grinder of the music industry, and ’Shadow Of You’ was released directly to the internet with no label support. There are several stand out singles on this sophomore release, notably the power balled, ‘Angel In The Sun’ and the country rocker, ‘Live It Up’

Emerson has written and recorded hundreds of songs with some very notable songwriters, has 4 billboard singles, several television and film placements, has received many songwriting awards, and has produced count Laritz from Nashville. less radio commercials, and does voice overs.

Emerson has teamed up with longtime friends and producers, Donny Poole, Stephen Catizone, and guitarist Jamie Laritz from Nashville again to write and produce Emerson's third studio album, '7 Year Town'.

Emerson is always up to collab with like-minded artists and is available to provide background vocal via the internet.
