This guy's got it! ("LET YOU GO")

I LOVE this guy's voice; production is very good;the song is very good: poignant without being too maudlin and soppy. I wish I could write more, but it is only 1 song. I'd like to hear more from MILBY.

Simple, Straight Forward Storytelling

Helpful

There is nothing pretentious here. "Let You Go" by Milby Dunn II is a straightforward, folk-rock, organically dry song with absolutely no attempt to lure you in with unnecessary bells and whistles. Instead, Milby draws you in with his no frills vocal tone that tells a story you'll want to hear from start to finish. Everything else gets lost in the mix as you can't seem to take your attention away from the story. Perhaps a songwriter's highest achievement. But even a good storyteller needs a catchy tune to back it up. This song lacks a bit of excitement, yet still the listener can't help but wait it out to hear where the story will ultimately lead.

The Sauce

Milby Dunn II has sent you a request for review...So I took the request and I took a listen to "Let You Go". He claims it was written fairly quickly with some revision's over a few month's of time. Unfortunately, I did not hear "Let You Go" a few months ago so I can't back up the claim of revisions. Over all, tracks kick. Good sounds for this type of tune. Although I was having a minimal hard time hearing the vocals in the bridge & chorus as well as the vocals were sorta kinda dry, like that pizza where you wished there was just a little more sauce. But, that is my personal taste compared to the pizza maker's.

Nice buildup

The vocals on this are a bit on the quiet side. If I were you, I'd consider turning them up in the mix somewhat. I also think the timing of the entrance could be a little better. It's definitely a tricky bit to get perfect...but I bet you could do it. ;) I like how the instrumentals slowly come in as the song progresses. That contributes to a really nice build. The transition to the chorus is nice -- there is no doubt that the verse is over and we are hearing a new thought. Good job on that!

I Liked it...

Had to listen to it twice to get into it, because of the intro for some reason. Maybe it was to hear what kind of bridge 'hook' was coming and you did 'not' disappoint me at the 1:45 mark with that sweet guitar riff which came in right at the nick of time to keep the dynamic going. Well done.... The only thing I would add to this song is a little more guitar riff (like the bridge) at the end going to fade out. It would put a little 'sting' to it going out, man...in my book. Like I said, I 'liked' it. Good Luck on your Music adventure here at N1Music, Milby Dunn II. ~ Gizzmow, Bonham, Texas

Very nice sound, excellent groove

As the title says, this song has a great sound and an excellent groove. I really love the guitar riff, sits perfectly and help push and direct the listener through the song. The keyboard brings some nice sonic texture to the song, and drums and bass work great together. the acoustic guitar comes in with a sparkle, and since I am an acoustic player primarily, I really enjoyed the entrance it made! Vocally, very reminiscent of Tom Petty, and who doesn't like Tom Petty!? Songs have a tendency to say nothing or else something profound. It sounds as if this is a song written from an experience, and everyone can relate to this kind of experience.

I really like this song! It's catchy, original, memorable and the emotion really comes across. As far as room for improvement I think the production could be better, but the main ingredients for a hit song are there!

Outstanding song from the bottom of the heart

I think this song is really something special in the country rock genre. The introducing starts of with soft and cool played electric guitar. The melody is an extra factor and brings additionally beauty into the music. The intro feels like a story. The lyrics tells us a problematical story about deep feelings of love for a women. Melankolic song from Milby Dunn as vocalist and great instrumentalist. But the whole song is more various. The imaginative transitions from the stanza to the chorus makes the song lively and creative. The fantastic played e-guitar solo in the bridge increases this tune and is another extra factor. This song is from a musician, who understand what good music is about. Also the mixing and mastering is professionell. This a perfect arrangement influenced by country music and songwriter genre in perfect orchestration. The song is going hand in hand with questions in relation to own problems and touches the soul. The main question is about why the girl of your heart just gone and this song represents at the same time the answer. Much more openness about feelings he could alter, and the puzzle of love and the cause of let your love go in a particular state or position isn´t possible. But why do I tell this? Well, you might be a country music fan, surching for the light at the end of the tunnel for good music. This song could be a radio hit and it´s original. I´m sure, you will also hear, why Milby Dunn is ranked #1 on N1M.

Music can be done in many ways, and you do not always have to be a PhD music guru to play in the souls of the listeners. But mastering the one thing can not hurt, as one can notice very nicely with these titles. Classically sophisticated, it does not hurt and is not too boring. Somewhere in the midst of music, listening to the day ...
